I have the exactly the same problem, Just been onto Bernina in London and updated my 750 assuming I would be able to turn off the securing stitch at the start but no go. Unless I am doding comething wrong. I would really like to be able to turn it on and off according to circumstance but would be interested to know how to turn it off to start with. Any chance I could be text the information?

That's not true. The update fixed mine? What is your version number of the update?

Hi JoJo! I had finally called my Bernina person at the sewing store, and she contacted her tech guy..and from what they are saying there isn't a "fix" for it as yet. Wonder if they aren't totally in the loop about this?

PammieAnn, call me when you are in front of your machine and we can walk through the process. There were multiple areas to turn off before it 'really' stopped. My phone number is 503.756.1426.

So...there has been a new firmware update put on the Bernina site. I updated my Bernina, and I still cannot stop the secure stitch. Seems the only way to prevent the secure stitch is by using the manual thread cutter on the side of the machine. I emailed Bernina to see if there is a particular setting I need to change...and all I got back was "take your Bernina to your dealership for a firmware update". Unless they have an update newer than what is on the Bernina site, that won't help. Has anyone been able to update their machine and been successful at stopping the secure stitch at the beginning of every seam? Thanks!!

Wanda,

The 780 doesn't have the glitch...just the 710 and the 750. My Bernina dealer just today said the fix will be in the next firmware update. I can't wait for the fix because it drives me crazy. :)

PammieAnn,
I just purchased the 780E at Houston. I was told by the Bernina rep that the machine is programmed to do this knot at the beginning, but that you can turn it off. I had the Bernina dealer do that when I picked up my machine. I can't remember how she did it though! But there is a way! :)
