I've had my machine for a few weeks and my cabinetmaker has done surgery on my cabinet. I LOVE this machine! There's lots to learn, but I'm so used to computers that it all makes perfect sense to me. I'm so glad I bought this machine!

Thanks, Marika. I'm pretty excited!

Your advice sounds wise. I use computers a lot and am very comfortable with technology, so I'm sure it will be a good experience. I sometimes wonder whether some people find these high-end machines intimidating because they're not very fluent with technology in general. I guess I'll find out!

You will love it, but you must respect the machine to do its things. I have had the 830 for 3 years now and I never looked back. I prepared myself by watching the videos before buying. 3 hours with my dealer showing me how to manage the machine and I was up and running.
Congratulations and HAVE FUN

Congratulations Anne !
I hope it will arrive soon.
I really Love my 880 and only 'problem' I'v notised is when Im working to fast.
I seam to forget sometimes that its automatic and, for example, need 2-3 seconds more to cut.
And in future ,.. This comes to everyone ,...
Remenber its a computericed machine and if there is some problem - do an upgrade from internet or same upgrade as you allready have to calebrated and get rid of "bugs".
Its eazy and only takes 1-3 minutes.

Best wishes to you all ☀️

I ordered an 880 today! It will be quite a step up from my 48-year-old 730.

Funny. Last night I was cleaning and oiling my 730 and looking to see what modifications I'll have to make to the cabinet to get the 880 to fit into it. And I felt sad! Is this normal? I've never bought a new machine before.

I'm consoling myself by thinking about how wonderful it will be to have a needle-up/needle-down function!

Fun to hear how things work out for you with the new board for your 780. My dealer upgraded my 440 last year I'm delighted with the service and the upgrade.

I did not get the 880 instead I got the 780, and it is in the shop now. A board died and the shop called saying they replaced it and it still does not work.
I have not used it very much as I still have the 730 which I really love....so now I hae to wait till the receive another board.

I'm also so sorry for all of you that have had trouble and "bad luck" with both machines and dealers.
I got myself an 830 February at 2011. After a few trouble shoting and 3 times back to the dealer the first year, it have workt perfect.
The troubles I had was because I was not informed how a few things worked and a few thing did not work.
It was my first Bernina after owning a Brother 4000D and Huskvarna, so it was new things to learn on a new brand.
It was when I got my 830 I meet some quilting friends,.... Crazy pack of ladies hwo cut beautiful fabric in to small small pieces,.. Made repeating blocks ,.. piles of them ,..... Well ,.. After a few month I was totally hocked .
I love my 830 , but I did miss a few things on it and 1 month ago I realiced that the 880 maby was something for me :)
I sold my 830 to a lovely young lady a week ago and this weekend I got myself an 880. This dealer had one for show in the store and I could bring it home right away.
At home I made myself a bowl of popcorn and started playing on the screen ,... It is sooooo asum <3333
I found out several new things already ,... I totally love it ,....

Needlenppins: With utmost sympathy for your problems, I'm thinking about what you describe with embroidery and wondering...does this happen on all designs or just one? And have you tried a different stabilizer and maybe a different bobbin thread? I would get this from time to time on my 730, but it was usually bad digitizing, which happens.

Sometimes, it's those awful OESD sticky stabilizers.

By the way, what's your name? We like to call people names, oh, I meant "by their real name"

Yes, Norma, you said it just right. I too have found my wonderful 830 to have helped me obtain a much greater level of quilting, sewing, and embellishment. It makes me really sorry to hear people having such problems with their machines when I know what they can do when they work well. :(

I feel so sorry for you people that experience so many problems with their precious machines. I hope you can find a dealer that really will take care of your problems. The dealer is the most important part when you buy a machine like this. I wish you all the luck in the world to get this solved.
I have the 830 and I wouldn't trade it for anything.

As some here will remember ,...I've had multiple melt-downs over my 820 !! I bought it from a
"bad" dealer, who used a terrible technician....they lost parts, lied and caused me much grief !
They went out of business a year or so later....I've had better luck the last 2 yrs....but still troubles
from time to time...I'm 120 miles 1 way from dealer/tech( another new tech) and just got home from
retreevel ( spelling)in 100 degree weather today !! Praying all's fixed !! I love it when it sews...
call it every dang name, the nicest of which is LEMON  when it doesn't :!: .....don't give up...
find a new dealer..find a new tech....there IS hope ! It has taken five years + But I couldn't sell it in good
faith...so might as well stick it out ! Perhaps you will be able too as well. The longer the machine is out
the better service you may have as they learn ! New dealer...new tech !! She's a Diva !!
