Libbi, well done! I would love the pattern but no hurry. We are off on the 4th to my son's wedding in S. Africa for the month. I love your dresden plate. It looks like you had alot of fun! :D

OK Bunny, here it is. Since I had absolutely no more fabric & couldn't remember where I bought it, the cunning plan was to leave the back section open about 1/3 on the motor end and down the side. The entire cover is bound with bias and the back side is secured with 3 sew-on velcro dots. Make sense??!! :?

Front side panel, front with mongram, back side panel, module cover
As you can see the module it a separate piece. If you want the pattern and my modifications, let me know. The dresden plates are from Joanne Winn's QU course, Embroidered Applique and done entirely in the hoop. I went nuts with echo quilting. Very therapeutic. :D

Thanks Libbi. I look forward to your cunning plan. I am currently watching the Swedish curlers beat our Canadian ladies for the gold medal. :( Such is life!

Bunny,
There are 2 patterns on the Yahoo Series 8 group. I choose to adapt the one from Phyllis. I leave the slide-on table attached to the 830 and I also have the additional thread holder. Unless I really need to detach it, I leave the embroidery module attached even when I do straight sewing. With this configuration I needed to adjust the module pattern to accomodate the table. That cover is completed.

Since I cutout the machine cover before I considered the additional width of the thread holder (and I don't have any more of the fabric  ), I must devise a cunning plan to create a split or opening on the backside panel. Like Scarlette O'Hara, I'll think about that tomorrow.

I'll post photos in a day or two (estimated time of completion, ETC). Then if you're interested, I'll email the pattern to you. I think it is a fun project to try out some of the V6 features and the Jumbo hoop.

Libbi, if you come up with a good design for the 830 cover: post it. For now I am just using the ugly grey one that came with the machine. :)

Not sure Libbi, I'll have a hunt around.

*edit* From what I can gather it should be relased over here 'by February 2010'. When, as the February days are rather limited now, however....

You're right! Got up at 1am to watch the Ladies' Free Skate and had to be out and about by 7:30 am. Actually just got up from my "nap." But that was the last event of my Olympic "live" schedule for 2010.

Got the notice that my Creative Sewing V6 workbook is waiting for me at the post office. :D I've been waiting a long time since the first mailing never got here. I am ready to really get into it.

But I haven't been idle. I am currently making a cover for the 830 and its embroidery module. Unlike my 630, no cover came with the module and the machine cover is UGH-LY. Will post photos as soon as it is finished. FYI: V6 still has not been released here. Is it available in the UK?

Libbi has been very quiet. Perhaps she's gone nocturnal with the Olympics.

Well Libbi & all, I completed the 6 hours of V6 training from the dealer today. There were only 2 of us who took advantage of the classes & we really learned lots. I can hardly wait to start planning the many projects I can do in the future. :D :D :D

My V6 study and quilting is also being interrupted by watching the Olympics...only we are 9 hours ahead of PST so I am watching in the middle of the night. Makes me a little groggy during the day. Not good for study and if I'm not careful I'll sew my fingers to my quilt!

I tried joining one Yahoo group but never got a reply so I will soldier on & try again. Presently I am watching the Olympics & hemming & sewing florettes on the 3 GD flowergirl dresses. Once they are finished I can start playing with the V6.

Yes Sue the V6 group is very helpful. There are also groups for the various Bernina machines. I belong to 2 for the 830 and I've found that the topics overlap. Sometimes I think that my head is going to burst with all the info online. It would help if Yahoo search would work.

There is a great forum on groups.yahoo.com called BerninaV6Software.

It seems that there are quite a few very knowledgeable (why does that spelling look funny?), nice, funny people who are very willing to give prompt answers to issues.

You do have to "join".

The only thing frustrating is that the search doesn't appear to be working, but if you click on one message, all the answers are attached at the bottom of the screen.

I've even solved some problems I didn't know I had! (my sounds turned off & I didn't even realize it).
