17 Aug 2009 10:05 #37664

jojojo, I think maybe not I will get one. My partner thinks that quilting is just a winter hobby. We play couples golf on sundays. I got out of it this weekend becouse of the heat here. In the 90's. He played both days without me. With the boys. Was nice to have the personal time alone.....Rina

Follow up :D

I bought my 820! On EBay! A dear quilter bought the 820 but after using it decided she liked her 440 better and put it up on eBay. It had been up for four days when I saw it. I called the dealer that sold it to her - to get some verification - and he gave the seller a glowing report. SOLD! Now I'm waiting for my Master class to start - 9/3.

Now for the cabinet. . .

Awesome retirement gift!!! Congrats!!! And pls let us know what you find on the best price.

I do think that Bernina (the mother ship) limits how low a dealer can go on the prices for the 830 and 820...... so with some calling around, you can probably find that price!

Good luck!

Ok - I'm going to buy a 820 - no doubt about it. I'm not the type that haggles over the price BUT my DH LOVES to buy a car just to do it. I also need a new cabinet and they sell Koalas at my LQS. I read that someone bought a 830 and quilt frame for the price of a 830. Basically the 820 MSRP is $7,499 per my LQS but she said they would expect it to sell for $7k. They are taking $500 deposits now for the debut in June/July.

Has anyone gotten or heard of a deal on the 820? What other deals have people gotten with their 830? When I test drove the 830 in Feb that dealer told me if you buy the machine she'd sell a cabinet or frame for her cost - $1500. Doesn't sound like such a deal after the example above.

This is my retirement gift to myself. My DH wondered if the cabinet held a refrigerator - then he'd never see me:)

Thanks for your input.
