Thanks for all your messages. I'm glad to know I'm not the only one this has happened to!

This happened to me, too, with my 435--thank goodness my shop is just down the street! I wish Bernina would put this little problem in the "troubleshooting" part of their instruction book!!!

My face is red, too! That happened to me shortly after I got my 730 and I called the store saying "something is wrong with my machine!" Glad to hear I'm not the only one who has done this! :D

When my friend, Kathy, bought her 440 the lady who sold it to us told us that she had the "buzzing" happen to her when they first started selling Berninas. Needless to say, she said she was very embarrassed when she had to call and ask what could cause it and found out what it was.

I had the same problem last year when i brought home my 435-Aurora Anniversary Edition. Set it up and plugged it in, and it buzzed at me. I was going in to the dealers for something else, so took it along and she told me about the winder being engaged I wish they could tell you when you buy it, to be aware about it as it happens to easy.

Most definitely the bobbin winder. Just disengage it. No biggie!

Cool Beans!!!
The first question the repair person asks if someone calls the shop concerning the buzzing sound...has the bobbin winder has been engaged.
I have bumped the winder myself...so I know the buzzing sound.

That was it! Thank you for telling me that. It saved me from having to pack my machine 50 miles for something so simple!

Bernina buzzing 24 Nov 2008 13:00 #28864

My new 440 QE started making a buzzing sound yesterday. I hadn't sewn in about a week, so I thought maybe it was lonely and needed to warm up. But that didn't help. Any advice before I make the trek to the dealer?
