Jules,
Can you send me in the right direction for information about making those sock monkeys? Two of my grandkids live in Poplar Grove, also near Rockford, and it would be a blast to plan my next visit to coincide with the annual sock monkey making day.

Interesting projects in the link, thank you. I love the sock monkeys, they're hilarious.

Such great projects on this link to Ann the Gran. I think I saw her site eons ago... like when it first started! Glad to see it again!
Twiglet, needed to come back when I saw your comment on the sock monkeys! :) I live near the city of Rockford where they started the Rockford sock company that makes the traditional sock for monkeys. A museum there has an annual sock monkey day and they help kids make their own sock monkey. I love them but am not a huge fan of making stuff projects!!

Geneva- fun to see your Positive Energy quilt! I especially like your quilting. I’m looking forward to your three new quilts,

Glad you’re spending Thanksgiving with your son and family in Dallas.

Oh my, it has been a long time since I've checked in here! What a lovely quilt show on this thread!! ♥♥♥

I have finally been able to make some quilts for gifts that I was behind on and will aim to upload pix soon. (don't hold your breath!) Doing Thanksgiving prep already this week. Anyone else doing that?

Hi All,

I wrote a very nice blog Sunday but it wouldn't upload. Rats! I'm having problems with my browser so I am using Chrome now. Let's see if it works.

Rosemary your Shirty Solstice (be careful how you say that  ), is wonderful. And I love the euti. It is really exquisite. And your quilt in the calendar is a nice pat on the back for you. Your breadth of sewing skills is really wonderful. I'm glad I call you friend!

I finished my "Positive Energy" quilt. Every once in awhile I make a quilt and it comes out exactly like it looked in my head. This one is it! I think the improvisational border helps with the whole energy thought. Here's some photos.

and here's my drafted plan....

I've been working on getting through the many, many boxes of my mother's belongings so I can get them to other family members. It's a hard job in more ways than one. Next Monday we will travel to California to bury her with my dad. Then my sweetie and I will go to our son's home near Dallas to have Thanksgiving with him, his wife and our two adorable grandchildren. It will be a full week.

I'm in the middle of two new quilts with a third on the back burner. I'm hoping things will be back to a new "normal" so I'll be able to spend more time sewing.

I'm interested in the new IMQE that TQS is talking about. It was fun.

Hugs to you all... geneva

Oh my! I apologize Rosemary! I haven't been constant in my being here, so I didn't realize you'd made the quilt. Thank you, Wendy, for your post. Rosemary, it is wonderful and congratulations!

Your work on the thimbles and etui is super have you shown it to the japenese ladies. I'm friends with one on facebook I'm sure you are as well. They will be so impressed that an English lady can do such superb work. Amazing I love the swirl you've achieved on the base, it's different to what I've seen before, I'm sure you'll say it's easy. Rosemary, your Shirty Solstice is great! Love that you upcycled. ;) The etui is cute, and very practical. Are you planning on making any of the quilts from your calendar?

There has been some great work posted here, since I last commented, and it is a pleasure to see all the wonderful pictures.
I have recently finished my first leader/ender quilt top, which I am calling Shirty Solstice, because it is originally based on Bonnie Hunter’s Celtic Solstice.

My other project that I was working on this summer was a pendant etui, which holds my thimble (interchangeable so that it goes with my outfit ;) ) a thread cutter, threads, and pins/ needles.

My major problem currently is trying to decide which project to pick up next, a new hand bag, a new chenille waistcoat(the last two are worn out on the back of the neck), or my bog coat, or something else completely different. Decisions, decisions.....
I do have next year’s calendar sorted though

Molly lives 2 days of travel away from me. This makes it difficult for her to learn to sew. Right now she has a small box filled with the leftover pieces from the quilt. She’s thinking about how she wants them to be arranged on a quilt of hers. I won’t be back to see her until next spring, perhaps this time, I’ll put the sewing machine in the car and take it with. She can have the fun of learning how to run her Granny’s machine. Here’s a picture of her with here big sister Hannah.

Caption for this pic is, Preparing to make Gatorade! Funny kiddos,,,

Luann, I love your colors! Maybe tell Molly she can help make her own quilt. That might take some of the pressure off.

Molly sounds a great girl. I think I'd tell her that one would look great on her bed as well. So much work!! And it looks great :)
