I would recommend that you wash it by hand in a mild soap and then rinse. Then rinse again in cool water with 1/4 cup white vinegar dry in fresh air if possible.

Mothballs are carcinogenic. I would wash it gently but thoroughly. Maybe with Synthrapol or Dawn.

I would suggest a wash and then dry it out on the line for several hours. You cannot beat lots of fresh air for this sort of thing, rather than trying to cover up one smell with another.

I have found a baby blanket that my mom saved from my brother! 50+ years old. Great condition, but smells like mothballs! Does anyone have any info about getting the smell out? THANK YOU :
