If getting an Epson printer make sure that it uses Durabrite inks as these are pigment based and don't need a mordant on the fabric first. They are also doing printers that use Claria inks and these are dye based and do need a mordant; or fabrics that have been pre-immersed in a mordant. (the mordant is what makes the colour stick to the fabric and aids its washability)

what is the best color printer to buy for fabric

I read somewhere that an Epson does not require the fabric to be pretreated! The ink is probably more expensive due to the use of special pigments. We have one, but I just haven't gotten around to testing it. I would suggest getting a printer that you can use 11 by 17 inch fabric in. That's a nice width for using in sewing projects.

I have bee using the Canon Pro 9000 for my photo printing on fabric but now window's 10 does not support the printer. I did not like the color output of the printer any way .
Before I buy a new color printer what is the the best one ( reasonably priced for photo fabric prints. Please let me know what you use. Thanks
