That's my favorite cutter. You can also lock it in the open or closed position. I would never lock it in the open position. After cutting I turn it with the blade away from me even with it closed and always lock it after I'm through.

I learned this lesson by nicking my index finger with my cutter and a friend of a friend dropped an open cutter on her foot, ouch! I love the cutter that closes automatically! Btw her classes are awesome!!

I am enjoying Lynn Wilders classrooms....but! in the latest "square in a square" she cuts the fabric and leaves the rotary cutter open and her hand goes so close to it it is a wonder she doesn't cut her hand.
Maybe I'm being picky......I enjoy watching her classrooms she is such a good teacher. I would hate it if she injured herself.
