I wanted to show what I finished in August. It is a portrait quilt from the Lea McComas class. I had made one last fall for one of my cousins. She loved it and had to keep it hidden all this time until I finished this one for her sister. The portrait is of their mother. I had forgotten to takes pictures of the first one so they may be a little different. Here is the finished quilt:

Here is the quilt by the posterized picture:

The finished quilt is small, only 8x10 inches. I wanted her to be able to frame it if she wanted. I did get a blue ribbon in the county fair for this.

Hope you're out of the storms path Judith and Luann. Sounds like the Hurricane will miss the mainland but still pack a punch with high surf and rainfall!

Lotti - have fun with your camera and wedding photos! I bet you get fantastic results.

That sounds like a tricky assignment Lotti. The only thing I can suggest is to make sure that you have at leas one photo with everyone in it. Best of luck

Be safe!

In the meantime, i'm heading out with camera, various lenses & flash, to practice.
A friend has asked me to shoot his wedding, knowing very well that i don't do people, group shots, events, etc...
I'm so totally out of my depth here - but he wants me and my 'style'... Whatever that is.
I'll tell everyone to pretend that they are bears, oels and lynxes...
And take comfort in the fact that normally a wedding fotographer is paid and not asked to give up a paid vacation day, time to travel, time to prepare and post process (minimum 2-3 days work for the posts alone), all for a warm meal with people i don't know... ;) :silly: ;)

Lois, it sure is the time of year for 'that' kind of weather. Hope the weather doesn't mess up everybody's plans for Houston this year?
I hope your area is spared.

The ark is starting to shake a bit,,, yikes!! Really, we'll be fine. If they would have said the hurricane was going to land here, you guys wouldn't have heard from me until I got to my kids house in the Midwest!! I'm not in any way, interested in 'riding one out',!!

Thanks for your prayers, please include the public service workers that'll be called on to save those goofballs that think they can still go to the pub, have a snort full, and drive home thru the flooded ravines!

May Jesus bless each of you with a week of pleasant weather,
Luann

What Wendy said, and get your valuables upstairs (that would be stash & sewing machines) for safety, or failing an up stairs, up high.

Yes, everyone along the southeast coast stay safe. Luann, I am particularly concerned for those of you in parts of South Carolina. I heard you could have in excess of 12" rainfall in less than 24hrs on top of already saturated grown and creeks and rivers at their banks. The low country just can't manage that much more water. I think you should abandon your quilt frame and start building an ark. My prayers are with you!

Judy,
Stay safe, my friend.
I am in Charleston, SC area and I got an extra 24 pack of water yesterday, and cheeses, cold cuts, etc. flooding can create a lot more problems beyond the waters!
I'm hoping there's no power loss, cuz my machines like to sing above the thunder. Course, if there's lightning then I gotta unplug stuff!!
Praying for everyone to stay safe during weather situations

Lotti,
Thank you for posting the wonderful animal photos. They are great! I really enjoy them!

We have been having days and days of rain here in my part of Virginia. There are flash flood warnings today. Tomorrow they say we will have flooding. High winds are predicted tomorrow. The ground is so saturated already after days of nonstop rain that trees are expected to be uprooted when the winds come).
Everyone please be careful.

Heather, great tops!
Lotti; love your bear - could be my doppelganger when I do my stretches up agains the fridge although I don't wear a fur coat for my exercises (actually I don't wear fur; FULL STOP)
I never got very far in September being away and disrupted all the time although I ended the month with a sewing week-end with my daughters where I sewed up 2 t-shirts and 2 tunics (I had pre-cut all 4 during the month). I hope October will give me more sewing time. Just cut out fabric for 2 place mats but haven't got enough fabric for the binding so need to do a bit of shopping tomorrow when I go to a regional day where there are supposed to be vendors :woohoo:
