Yep, you can just spray the starch into the cap and apply with a small brush. I use starch this way for applique.

I watched the show with (is it Christy's?) demo of paperless piecing in the video with Sharon Shamber's daughter. She used a glue tip on the school glue that I think is available at Michael's. She also used Spray starch in a liquid form. I am wondering if you just spray into the lid of regular spray starch and apply that with a small brush?
