Thanks Rita, I think I am going for the straight lines....as you say no angst. I just want to get it finished and then there is the 2014 B O M to quilt.
I am not going to do any more big quilts. too much trouble quilting them.
My FMQ is rubbish....but I will practise on smaller pieces.
Loved the picture of the daffodils, from the way the birds are behaving Spring is definitely round the corner.

Anne if it was me, because mostly the quilting there won't be seen very much because the print is busy, I would use my walking foot and do either a series of straight lines or a combination of straight and a decorative stitch. I personally like a straight line, a serpentine line and a straight line. All can be done with the walking foot so save the angst of FMQ. My tuppence worth. :cheer:

Thank you all for your input.....I will just have to stop procrastinating and just go for it.....haven't yet decided which I will go for, probably the easiest.

Anne, I think Nancy is right. The fabric is busy so the quilting will not show too much. It is a good place to practice a new technique. Another idea is to do rows of little Christmas trees. Across on the horizontal sashing and upright on the vertical sashing. Trees are all a little different so they would not have to all match. A good free motion practice!
I really like how your houses turned out. I only have two rows done on mine. I ran out of what I was using for the background fabric. It was dark mottled blue with silver specks. It reminded me of a star filled night sky. I have been looking for something close and will continue to search.
Please post another picture when you get it all done.

Hi Anne -

You can really do anything in that area because the fabric is wild enough that the quilting really won't be seen. If there is a certain pattern that you are good at or one that you want to practice, this would be a good place for it. One thought would be to do diagonal cross-hatching using the fabric pattern as your guide lines. There would be a lot of traveling in the ditch, but it would be a good contrast to the star meander in the blocks. I can't see any of the other quilting so am not sure what other motifs you may have used.

Hope that sparks some ideas!
