I use YLI 100 thread which is lovely and fine. It's available in the UK now sewcreativequilts.co.uk/yli/60-yli-silk-thread.html

It's used for appliqué and is great for quilting and will win you points at FOQ for fine thread :)

Actually it goes really quickly. I have the design marked out on graph paper, make up strip sets of the colours so that they are 1/2" strips. Then stitch on the line from the back, press, fold the paper back and then use my add an 1/8" ruler (homemade) to cut. I have done about half of one of these triangles in and afternoon & evening.

Wendy, who would you suggest for machine silk thread?

Rosemary, it's truly amazing. I think you don't need to do much more than SID a the colour changes. It will make for an interesting quilting design on the back which mirrors the zigzag shape on the front. Really well done, I don't know where you get the patience.

Wow Rosemary it's amazing. I'd use dark silk thread in a few ditches unless you want the quilting to show.

That is the rub, a 'true' miniature is where you take a design and make it smaller. But in this case I took a design (the embroidery) and made it larger to piece it. Even so it will be finishing at about 11" square, so I suppose it is a miniature, and will certainly be going into that category.

Feeling a little bit excited here. I finished 3/4 of my latest little quilt. I am calling it Maxiature, because it cannot be a miniature since the original is only 2 3/4" square

I reckon that I could get this one finished in time to enter it into FoQ this year. If only I could work out how to quilt it and I am NOT going to ESS it, Uh-huh - not happening, not even remotely!
PS. the squares on the cutting mat are centimetres not inches.

Now onwards with the last quarter :cheer:

Annis your quilt top is beautiful. The piecing, colors and design are superb. Thanks for the half square triangle tip.
