I like that block very much Michelle and the fabrics are really gorgeous. The jelly rolls are beautiful too. I have a couple of charm packs of in those blue/greens from Laundry basket quilts - they are gorgeous. And the Kaffe Fassett fabrics are always beautiful too. I hope you have fun using them. I found that I could use jelly rolls to make flying geese using Bonnie Hunter's method if that helps anybody think differently about jelly rolls. Sometimes it's hard to think of doing anything except 4-patches and 9-patches with them. Renata it's definitely time you shook the dust off your jelly roll/s? :D

Susan I do think the Swoon Block is a Carpenters Star or Carpenters Wheel... if not exactly, then similar. I think a real Carpenters Star has set ins for the diamond shapes, this does not.

Can't wait to see what everyone does with their jelly rolls and honey buns... they are hard to resist buying!

The pace is really picking up here... I commented on Michelle's Jelly Rolls but did not see the Swoon Quilt blocks until I read Susan and Limbania's comments! Those are beautiful, Michelle, and you are right, the fabrics in closeup are really gorgeous. :D

Beautiful blocks Michelle. You're right, the fabrics designs are lovely. And those Jelly rolls are yummy. I just recently bought what is called a bun, smaller version, 1.5" strips. Is one of Edyta's collections. Might try them in some mug rugs.

Yeah, I have a keyboard again!

Michelle, your Swoon blocks are beautiful. Is this the same as a Carpenter's Star? Did you cut these out of jelly rolls?
Love love love the purple. Looks kind of easy, too, with a big impact. Nice!

May not be a bad idea, Rosemary, since I've been hanging on to this jelly roll for two years (might be stale by now... )

You could try them out mug rugging to see how you like them made up in a smaller scale

Here are the Jelly Rolls I bought.

Two are Edyta Sitar's Over the Rainbow batiks. There were full rainbow jelly rolls, hot rainbow jelly rolls and cool rainbow jelly rolls. I decided to step out of my "I love Rainbow colors" box and get the Blue/Green Cool Roll. I also bought the neutral roll to go with it.

The other two are TIcklish by Moda which is happy light brights and Liberty by Westminster, which is Kaffe type prints.

Now to figure out what to make from them!!

These pictures are not the best because we have a very overcast rainy day here today. The color theme for the Swoon quilt is purple. It will be a wedding gift for my nephew and his new wife who love purple. All the blocks will have a dark purple and a lighter lavender batik, set on a light cream Moda Marble.

The first two pictures have pretty accurate colors, the third block however, is not that blue, but the purple does lean towards the ultramarine side of purple and the lavender is a lighter cool tone. There are three more blocks to make - they are 24" each! It's an easy block to make and fun too!

PS. Be sure to click on the pictures to see the lovely designs in the fabrics!
