Beautiful Lorchen :D and the one on the right looks interesting.

This is mine but made from strips of scraps and I assembled it a row at a time rather than by the speed method but was just as quick but gives you the idea Jan

That looks nice Lorchen. It's pretty good sized. Nice deal with magazine subscription. Wendy would love to see yours. Jan

And this is what you get. Just needs a couple of borders.

It'll probably get finished in a couple of years or so. :)

I made a jelly roll race quilt today but did cut my own strips. It's a lovely little quilt for a baby. Shall do this one again if I can think how to quilt it now. :D

Wow, Pam that is a good link to know about. That makes me think doing a jelly roll race on a bali pop is a good idea. It may make an even smaller quilt but it would be pretty and the seam allowances wouldn't matter so much. It might make a pretty wall quilt. Any body have any other ideas about what to do with a bali pop? I saw a skirt pattern that was very nice on one of the links above. It uses layer cakes, though, to do two tiers on the skirt. Does anyone know the size of a layer cake? I should post that as a new question. Lol, Jan

Hi,guys, I looked at all the links and Lorchen a jelly roll looks bigger than a bali pop so maybe two bali pops would do that amazing jelly roll race quilt. I want to make a throw or about a 75" square quilt for my son. I found a pattern that looks easy that is new at Clotilde. It should be coming in the mail today or tomorrow. It uses rectangles and is about twin size. It's between that and a simple quilt made of 10 inch squares that I saw lots of examples of on all people quilt. I have lots of black and white fat quarters and fat half yards. Will let you know what happens and post pics. Thanks all Jan

If you haven't seen this yet, go to You Tube and look for 'Jelly Roll Race'. Neat idea for a quick way to use a jelly roll (or Bali Pop) with a minimum of cutting.

I believe jelly rolls and bali pops are the same measurements. They might be marketed by different companies so have different names.

They both should be 2 1/2" wide x width of fabric and have approx 40 strips included. Bali pops are always batiks and jelly rolls can be batik or regular fabric.

Any pattern or book for one should work for the other.

I wondered what I could make with my bali pop. There are patterns for jelly rolls and I wondered if they would be using about the same amount of fabric as a bali pop. I was thinking of making a rail fence quilt with my bali pop and wondered how big it would be. If not big enough I could do some lattice strips. Any advice? Thanks, Jan
