With baby quilts that are going to be loved to death I usually do quilt in the ditch because I want it to stay together. After I do the "ditch" thing I like to add a bit of decorative. I think Margo's suggestions look great.

It sounds like your quilt is like the one I just made. I got my pattern from the Moda Bake shop. It is at the quilters right now. She showed me a really cute design but I can't show you until it is done. Wish I knew how to draw it.
It will be an all over but will not sew the prairie points down. These were my first prairie points and I love them.

Michelle, I have no idea how much quilting you want to do, but I would start with stitching in the ditch of all the pinwheels and the borders then add motifs in the different areas. Here are some really rough sketches of a few motifs that might work.

Thank you for your reply. I actually have a few books of the same theme and never thought to copy the patterns. Will now go have a long look at my collection.
Cheers

i am busy with quilting from a book that called 1000 quilt patterns, what i do i increase the pattern and copy it to A4, then i copy this page to nother 30 pages, i pin it to the quilt...and quilt. only this way i stay near or exactly on the line.you get in this book different segments of quilt patterns - colomes, area, squares etc. - so you can choose what suits to your quilt.
good luck!!

Hi there, can anyone give me ideas how to machine quilt my newly completed baby quilt top? It is made up of eight inch pinwheels with a two inch border in white tone on tome and pansy prints which have some gold shiny colour on them The next border is mafe up of prarie points then a five in white on white border copletes the top.
I have seen and been told a great many times to use "in the ditch" quilting but wanted to know if anyone else has done any different quilting on this block with good effect.
Thanks for any and all advice.
Michelle
