Or you could take pictures that are painted on paper and then print them onto fabric. See this class for details learn/classrooms/

Fabrico markers are permanent and washable. They are also called Tsukineko pens. I have used them a lot on fabric and they work very well. They are just like felt tipped pens but they have a fine pen at one end and a brush-like pen at the other.

Victoria, here is one that I made for my grandchildren using fabric ink. I just traced their drawings so they did not put the color on the fabric. I thought that was easier than having the children draw on the fabric.

Here is a link to the inks that I used. http://www.jukeboxquilts.com/store/allPurposeInks.php

I would love to have grandchildren paint on fabric to be made into quilt for their mother , but not sure what medium to use . Markers wash away , crayola , does it really heat set, I need advice . If any one has tried this please let me know , also I want to keep mess to a minimum. Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Thanks Victoria
