Here is my face, I may add more before I quilt it, I had to clean up my sewing, laundry, guest room! I’m a retired school librarian and kindergarten/first teacher so tried to put lots of characters from books.

I think I figured out how to get picture right side up. My first picture was vertical and came out sideways. I then retook the picture horizontally and it came out right. Unfortunately you can’t see the top of my picture.:-(

A stretch for me- I usually want a pattern to follow:) This was fun. The quilting took forever, though.

I got carried away! When I get around to quilting it, I will outline a lot of the pieces to make them pop. The symbols speak for themselves...I love quilting, making folk art santas, and needlework especially making reproduction samplers. For 35 years I had a group of friends who use to run away twice a year...our mascot was the flamingo. And one of our favorite places where my husband and I were stationed was New Orleans. And of course I had to add my "pre-Covid" hair. Thank you, Alex, for everything!!

This is my second face project. This is my husband with his old flannel shirt. He's a writer and a climber. I cut the sunglasses (in his pocket) from a shiny ribbon with fusible on the back. I cut the beard pieces using a wavy rotary cutter blade. Most of the quilting is free motion. A blanket stitch with a tiny bite was used for some of the applique. The books were made from some striped fabric.

Love the shirt and glasses!

Here are the faces I made with my grandson Niko. I help him with his distance learning class three days a week around his parent’s work schedule. He drew the face, helped with design and we even embroidered his braces with silver metallic thread. He wants to give the pillow to his parents for Christmas!

Your pillows are great!!!!!

My finished face. The last months of staying home have meant lots of time quilting, time swinging on the porch watching birds (we especially enjoyed the hummingbirds at the feeders this year), and plenty of time with Walter - our 16 month old pug.

Notice my Covid pigtails. Haven’t had my hair cut in months. In the side panel are hollyhocks. Also see pictures of my three cats. And I do love horses! The atomic orbitals with music notation are for my husband, a chemical engineer who plays the piano. This was a fun project, provided some relief from the worries of the world, so different from what I usually do. Thanks, Alex.
