There was an interesting exhibition at the Houston International Quilt Festival this year. It was curated by A Way to Women's Wellness, a non-profit all-volunteer organization that supports women of today and future generations through donations given to a variety of women's health initiatives. This exhibition supports the sale of their annual ArtBra Calendar. Take a moment to read the truly inspiring stories behind these bras.

To purchase a calendar, click here, but hurry, they are almost sold out!

photo by AuntSewsie - does this bring back memories?

Hey everybody!

Since establishing the Christmas In a Small Town website last year, hundreds of holiday stories have been posted. I would encourage you to take a few minutes just to read some of the heartwarming stories posted on the site. While you are there, you might be inspired to share your own story too.

The holidays can be a bittersweet mixture. Some people revel in the joy of the season while others seek to find encouragement and meaning. Some stories are fun, others poignant. Regardless, they might be the ticket to bringing light to someone struggling to find their way.

Christmas In a Small Town is my own personal website. Take time to read a few other stories today. It might just get you into the holiday spirit.

Here is one story that will surely touch your heart. Click here.

Should you be interested in giving my Christmas In A Small Town CD as gifts, I'm offering a 3-pak at 25% off at the Ricky Tims Online Store. If you are an iTunes fan, search iTunes for Ricky Tims, you'll find my music there too!

cardsAfter seeing PNPQuiltGuilder's Chanukah card, we got to wondering how many of you make homemade cards to send to your friends over the holidays.  Do you make quilted postcards?  Embroider cards? Stamp cards? Crochet cards? Submit a comment and share your ideas.

Here are some lovely cards from snowladyns in Canada.  She embroidered these cards for her friends on her home machine.

cardAs Chanukah has begun, TQS wanted to share a postcard that PnPQuiltGuilder made for her friend in Israel.

Here is what she says about her card, "The blue part of the flame has the Hebrew letters that are found on the dreydel, which since the Diaspora stand for "A great miracle happened there," meaning in Israel. However, dreydels in Israel say "A great miracle happened here," and because I sent this card to a friend in Israel, I substituted the pey (stands for PO which means "here") for the shim (stands for SHAM) which means "there."

PnPQuiltGuilder spent over 20 hours designing and making the card.  Isn't this a wonderful way to share your love for a friend?

We are so excited about Sue Garman's BOM 2011 that she has designed JUST FOR US!  As in the past, we will be offering kits for the BOM - in fact, this year we will be offering TWO kit colorways - Sue chose to work with collections so NEW and HOT - that the kits will not be available right off the bat. BUT - non-the- less P&B is starting to ship what inventory they do have in stock so we can get started cutting - At this point PLEASE DO NOT call the shoppe as we are setting up a new system - do not worry - we will ring the bell from the top of the mountain to keep you informed of where and when to order - All I can say is, "This must have been a sight to see".
