Bear Essentials Kit           Beloved Beauties Kit
Now Available               Coming Soon
(limited qty)

Hooray, hooray!!!!  The Bear Essentials kit is now available in the Shoppe in limited quantities.

In an effort to streamline the shoppe and make it more efficient, Bob, our web guru has built a brand new shoppe. From your perspective, it will look very similar to the old Shoppe but the real transformation is behind the scenes.  What does this mean to you....It means our old online Shoppe is no longer and the new Shoppe will require you to register with a new username and password; but this is the only change you'll notice with the "workings" of the shoppe.  We strongly urge you to use the same log-in information you use to enter the main site. This will just keep you from getting confused. As stated a few weeks ago, we currently only have BOM kits and the Series DVD's available.

Enjoy, enjoy Ruffled Roses - Essentials  and be on the look-out for the Ruffled Roses - Beloved Beauties coming soon!

Did you know that "colors" are selected for consumers every year?  Pantone, who  provides design professionals with products and services for the colorful exploration and expression of creativity selected PANTONE® 18-2120 Honeysuckle, a vibrant, energetic hue, as the color of the year for 2011. According to Pantone,

Honeysuckle emboldens us to face everyday troubles with verve and vigor. A dynamic reddish pink, Honeysuckle is encouraging and uplifting. It elevates our psyche beyond escape, instilling the confidence, courage and spirit to meet the exhaustive challenges that have become part of everyday life.

In times of stress, we need something to lift our spirits. Honeysuckle is a captivating, stimulating color that gets the adrenaline going – perfect to ward off the blues,” explains Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute®. “Honeysuckle derives its positive qualities from a powerful bond to its mother color red, the most physical, viscerally alive hue in the spectrum.

What do you think?  Will you rush out to buy this color fabric for your latest quilt?  Do you love it? Hate it? Let us know.

Our wonderful members are always full of knowledge they want to share.  Thank goodness.  In Episode 607 with Rami Kim, Alex wanted to know the difference between "sharks teeth" and "prairie points."

Well, victoriaedm, decided to look it up.  She read The Art of Manipulating Fabric, by Colette Wolfe and it classified sharks teeth as a slashed pleat rather than individual pieces of folded fabric. The continuous method, where you cut and fold the pleats as one, would be sharks teeth.

In Episode 607, Ricky demonstrates three ways to make prairie points, using individual pieces of folded fabric.

Note: Many of you have gift certificates for free past shows.  Check your My Account area>My Gift Certificates.  You may want to use one for this show if it is not in your library.

We had a friend drop into the yard to say goodbye.  It's a little early but we appreciate the thought.

Here is Part 2 of a selection of the amazing quilts seen at Road to California in 2010.  There seemed to be even more exceptional quilting than ever and other noticeable trends included the use of crystals for highlighting and the application of thread-painting.

The imaginations of these quilters is beyond belief and I believe some of them are TQS members, can you spot them?

This year, Road to California Quilter’s Conference and Showcase,“The Best in the West," at the Ontario Convention Center, Ontario CA, runs from January 20-23, 2011.

Alex, John, Justin and I will be heading to the Dark Continent on January 17th! Whoo-hoo! However, in our last minute preparations we realize we may not have packed everything we need. And, I just know there are facts and figures that will help us be more educated about Kenya. So, we are counting on YOU, the TQS family, to help us out. What do we need to know? Got any cool facts? What do we NOT leave home without? As you can see, I have my safari hat!
