Here's some great news! Bernina is providing TQS with thirteen, brand-new instructional videos to help you expand and sharpen you machine-stitching skills.

A new video will be introduced every other week, beginning Friday, June 10. Don't miss this stellar opportunity to explore a whole new range of possibilities for working with your machine, its stitches, and its various feet.

In the first video, Double-Needle Stitches, you'll learn to attach ribbons to your projects using double-needle stitching and a #20 foot.

Click on the button below or the banner in the upper-left border (of the wesite) any time, for these short, informative sewing lessons.

Joseph's Coat by MaryVal

Just look what your local thrift store can yield!

This coming weekend is Father's Day in the U.S., and in honor of that special man in our lives, we're sharing a quilt made by TQS member MaryVal from 100%-cotton plaid shirts that she collected at the thrift store.

We're sure that any man--or woman--would love to receive a beauty like this one.

The quilt guild in Joplin reports that it has been absolutely buried in fabric and supplies, to the point that they can’t accept any more right now. If you have not donated yet, but would still like to help, please consider a monetary donation to the American Red Cross earmarked for the Joplin tornado relief fund. Thanks!

Everyone is crowding around to see the new season of Quilt Shows coming your way this Summer and Fall.

Although we are all about quilts - oh yes we are - I must admit that taping shows on location is thrilling for me.

I just stumbled on this picture and was reminded of the extraordinary taping day at the U.S. Air Force Academy - and imagine this? We ran into a guy quilter - in uniform no less....The gals of Pine Needles in Iowa are very proud of this cadet (we even talked him into giving us a personal tour that you will see soon).

Janome America Inc. is recalling the Elna eXcellence 740 sewing machine. The machine is white and navy with a digital touch panel. "Elna" and "eXcellence 740" are printed on the front of the machine.

The wires inside the sewing machine can short circuit, posing a risk of fire. Consumers should immediately unplug and stop using the machine and return it to the store where it was purchased for a free repair.

For additional information, contact Janome America at (800) 631-0183 anytime or visit the firm's website at http://www.elnausa.com/.

It took quite a bit to get this quilt together, but probably not the way you think.  Sharon Pederson began this quilt in 2009 and with the help of her friends from all around the world, she organized and ran the Rose of Sharon Block Challenge.  You'll want to read the whole story at Sharon's website.  Here are the names of the designers of the blocks, including one from Sharon.

Starting at the upper left corner and going across the top, they are:

Simonetta Marini of Bologna, Italy, Judy Best from Ontario, Canada, Dianne Gronfors also from Ontario, Canada, my block, Leslie Collins from California, USA, Jo Moury of Virginia, USA, Rebekah Reinheimer from Jerusalem, Israel, Suzy Pricket of Florida, USA, Barb Vlack from Illinois, USA, Candace Door of Nebraska, USA, Pat Daniels, from Manitoba, Canada, Claudia Change of Taipei, Taiwan, and Kari Bauer from Illinois, USA.

BTW, our own Alex and Ricky judged the final blocks!
