Anita Grossmon Solomon was on hand for Episode 905: Rotary-Cutting Revolution: It Couldn't Be Simpler!, first airing August 29. Anita shows off her special techniques and time-saving methods for cutting and piecing. Ricky also demonstrates faux binding, facing, and framing for your quilts.  Take a look at what what went on and see if you can figure out what Alex and Ricky were doing with money on the set.

It's the 25th anniversary the Danish Patchwork Association and they wanted Ricky to be their featured guest instructor to help them celebrate at the Danish Patchwork Association Annual Quilt Festival and Show held August 27 and 28 in Odense, Denmark. (Odense was the birthplace of Hans Christian Andersen.)

Each year they try to hold this event in a different location so that every part of Denmark is visited. This is a major event for guild members and patchwork and quilt enthusiasts from all over Denmark.

It will be held at:

Odense Congress Centre Denmark
For more details go to www.occ.dk
(Much of the site is in Danish, use your brower's translator if necessary.)

Here's Ricky's schedule, he'll be giving three lectures/demonstrations:

Saturday morning: Just a Quilting Fool

Saturday afternoon: Kool Kaleidoscope

Sunday morning: Rhapsody Quilts

He'll give a little bit of laughter and a little bit of music with his Native American flute - not a full-blown concert, just a touch of fun.

Well, day one has come and gone and here's video showing the demolition. I'm heading to Denmark for the 25th anniversary of the Danish Patchwork Association but I'll be back in the middle of next week. There's bound to be a few stories to tell about the progress.

Every year, the smallest region in France plays host to one of Europe's largest quilt exhibitions. For four days in September, the European Patchwork Meeting is held in Ste Marie aux Mines, France. This year, the event takes place September 15-18.

Included in year's special exhibits are works from Israel, India and Pakistan, Dutch quilts from 1700s-2010, quilts by Edyta Sitar (Episode 802), and many many more.

Not able to go to the show?  Join us for our tour from last year with hosts Jim and Melinda Burt.  It's a great way to see the region and the show without leaving your easy chair.

Parc de Wesserling, France

The term "creative dwelling" takes on a whole new meaning with this most unusual of outdoor exhibits, currently on display and continuing through October 2, at Parc de Wesserling, France. Honoring the theme of "Garden Huts," various artists have built fantasy dwellings using a variety of materials, including textiles (see above). These incredible dwellings allow visitors to play and imagine life in an out-of-the-ordinary home.  For more info click here.
