As I sit in the hotel room watching John pack his stuff -I am amazed at how quickly both market and festival flew by. Not only were the quilts amazing and quite diverse - it was wonderful seeing all my dear friends. As a part of the TQS community you will be pleased to know that many folks have joined the fold. If you are reading this and are new to this crew....welcome to our diverse and wonderful community. Please fill out your profile and post your quilts. Remeber the slogan, "It pays to Play at TQS". This week's puzzle is an award winner from last year's International Quilt Festival in Houston.  It is Ambrosia by Gina Perkes of Payson, AZ.  Gina's quilt took First Place Innovative Applique in the 2010 A World of Beauty Exhibition.

Gina has visited TQS before in Episode 308: Artistry on a Long Arm.  In this episode Gina walks you through the process of creating intricate grids and continuous curves.  After watching her step-by-step approach, you'll be a pro in no time.

A Slice of Oz, presented by Gloria Loughman, a TQS featured artist, is a selection of contemporary quilts reflecting the techniques and fabrics used by Australian Quilters. This exhibit, presented at the Pacific International Quilt Festival where Gloria was an instructor, included quilts from Gloria and students in her class, "Escape to the Rainforest."

Come and enjoy a land of great contrasts in the colors of its landscapes and vegetation.

To see more of Gloria's work, watch Episode 612: Nature's Journey where she shares the process and methods she uses to capture the natural beauty of her native Australia.

You've been waiting a long time, and now it's finally here, the new TQS BOM created by Sarah Vedeler! Beginning in January 2012, this new block of the month will be available in two color-ways.  You can see both versions here, hanging behind their creator, Sarah Vedeler. Either quilt can be made using an embroidery unit or the AccuQuilt Go! Dies.  It can, of course, be made in the traditional manner.  More information will be available later, we just wanted to get you the pictures as soon as possible.

You'll be hearing more about Sarah, but if you'd like to learn a little bit now, you can watch Sarah in Episode 904: The Wonderful World of Embroidered Applique. Or, you can watch her visit with Sharon Pederson at Spring Quilt Market. Or, take a look at her other fabulous quilts.

You can also see Sarah's award- winning quilts on her website.

Kits will be available as before in both color-ways.  There will also be accompanying videos to guide you on your year long journey.

So it's time to finish up those last few projects and start planning for next year.
