We all know that Bernina has some great accessories for their machines and that Olfa has some of the best cutting tools around, but is there some tool or gadget out there that you wish someone would manufacture? For me it would be a smaller ironing board, not the kind that sits on a table, but a regular board, just in a smaller size.
What are you looking for?
Here at TQS, we're always on the lookout for new and exciting ways to help YOU improve your quilting skills. November: Christine Barnes-Color for Quilters
Join author and designer Christine Barnes (The Quilter’s Color Club) as she demystifies color and shows you how to choose and combine fabrics to make quilts you will love. Build on the basics with easy color studies, then learn to create special effects like luminosity, transparency, opalescence, and luster. See how “the color makes the quilt” in a series of same-design, different-colorway examples. When it comes to color, there are rules, and they work!

Using only four block elements, Debbie Caffrey and Charlotte Angotti (Episode 1010) challenged each other to design a quilt that would be revealed for the first time ever at the show taping. Play along and create your own stunning version of the mystery quilt using Debbie and Charlotte's patterns. You'll find them on the Projects page.
**If you post a photo of your completed quilt top in the Show and Tell area by June 1, you'll be eligible to win a TQS Super Goodie Bag**
If you are having trouble with the puzzles, you might need to enable Java. Also, if you want to see a picture of the quilt, click on the little mountain image on the bottom left of the screen, which is enlarged here. Now get out there and solve those puzzles!

Quilting Makes My Heart Blossom by Margarita Korioth
The Alliance for American Quilts is once again issuing you a challenge to create a small themed quilt for its popular annual contest. This year's theme, "Home is Where the Quilt Is," celebrates the form and meaning of home, and entrants are required to make a house-shaped quilt! All techniques and materials are welcome; you can read the complete set of contest rules by clicking on the button below. Submit as many entries as you like. (Yvonne Porcella made six in 2006!) Time is running out, though, so don't delay. The deadline for submission is June 1, 2012.

Pam's unique eye for color, design and quilt stitches comes through in her latest video of the Australasian Quilt Convention. Pam said about this video,
"The AQC was held in the Royal Exhibition Building. The surrounding gardens and the building was built in 1880 for Melbourne's first international exhibition, a product of the optimism, enthusiasm and energy of the people of Melbourne in the late-19th century."

Do you love a mystery? Join quilt artists and design teammates Debbie Caffrey and Charlotte Angotti, in Episode 1010, as they define what constitutes a mystery quilt, and how they collaborate on their mystery-quilt designs. Then each of these "designing women" reveals (to the audience and to her partner!) the mystery quilt that she's made using two pre-determined blocks.
It's not all a mystery: Debbie "spills the beans" on her power strip-cutting technique, and Charlotte "comes clean" with tips and techniques for crosscutting and machine quilting. All's well that ends well, however, as the pair serves up a tasty snack to Alex, Ricky, and the audience. (Instructions for three variations of the mystery quilt and recipes for the snacks are available (on the Projects Page) on the TQS site.)

We all have favorite feet for our machine. Here's one from Bernina that allows you to fold the bias tape and apply it at the same time. It is the Bernina Binder Attachment #84 used in conjuction with Foot #94. What's your favorite accessory?
In honor of its recent recovery, the TQS puzzle this week is Floral Sampler (28" x 42") by Deborah Kemball. This quilt is the cover of Deborah's book from C&T Publishing, Beautiful Botanicals, and was recently found after having spent almost a year hidden away in long-term storage box.
