In Episode 1101, debuting July 2, Tom Russell will be discussing and demonstrating the art of embellishment as he shows Alex and Ricky how to use beads and buttons on their quilts. This quilt, Scrapbag Bouquet was created for the Simply Quilts Scrapbag Challenge and has beads galore. For the challenge, Tom was given 103, 5" squares and one month to create the quilt.

What do sewing and the San Francisco Airport have in common?  If your travels this summer happen to take you throug the airport be sure to check out the exhibit in Terminal 3 that follows the progress of the home sewing machine.

Threading the Needle: Sewing in the Machine Age traces the development of the domestic sewing machine from the 1850s to the 1970s and celebrates over one hundred years of sewing. Pattern illustrations featured in the exhibition highlight ladies homemade fashions throughout the decades. A variety of notions from sewing boxes and sewing birds to needle cases, chatelaines, and pincushions, are also on display.

I was fortunate and honored to be invited to a special tribute for Ardis James at the International Quilt Study Center & Museum while I was back at Accuquilt.  I was thrilled to see the work of our current artist, Susan Shie as the invitation.  

This museum in Lincoln, Nebraska needs to be on every quilter's bucket list.  Amazing.  I was surprised at who was included on the quilt.  Can you see why?
