It's sneaking up on you...Quilting in the Garden at the Alden Lane Nursery in Livermore, CA is just around the corner.  For two wonderful days in September, the 22nd and 23rd, this lovely garden hangs quilts from the highest trees and offers quilting classes and garden tours to everyone!

This year the featured artists are Judy Mathieson and "See How We Sew" craftswomen/bloggers Christie Batterman, Laura Nownes, Jennifer Rounds, and Darra Williamson (a few of these ladies have visited with TQS before).  They will be bringing a number of their beautiful quilts for all to enjoy.

Quilting doesn't always have to be found on a quilt.  For example, this Radio Flyer go-kart has a lovely hand-made quilted seat.  Submit a comment and let us know "What have you quilted that isn't a quilt?"

When TQS guest artist, Cheryl Lynch visited Israel she went to the Or Torah Synagogue in Acco (Acre). It is also known as the Djerba Synagogue.  It was built in 1955 and is covered with millions of mosaics which have been manufactured at Kibbutz Eilon. The mosaics depict scenes of everything from Biblical stories to wildlife. The Synagogue also has 140 stained glass windows and a dome.  The front three doors are made of pure silver.

Cheryl is known for her striking tile-inspired quilts and you'll see some inspiration in these photos.  Go to Cheryl's website.

Cheryl is featured in Episode 811: Quilt a Fiesta with Tile-Inspired Quilts.

Need inspiration to get started, keep working on, or just enjoy your TQS BOM?  Take a look at what some of your fellow members have submitted to the BOM Show & Tell.  Each quilt is as different as the member who made it and as spectacular as well.

It's a good time to visit the website of Courtepointe Quebec Quilts. They have the winners of Salon 2012 posted on their site and these are quilts your won't want to miss!

Click here to see the winners.

Here's a bit of history from their website:

The provincial association Courtepointe Québec Quilts  (C.Q.Q.) was founded in 1988, following the national meeting of Quilt Canada that took place in Montréal in 1987. This important event on the Loyola campus gathered together more than 300 members of diverse Quebec organisations, and included visitors from Australia.

The purpose of C.Q.Q. is to establish and maintain quilting standards and to sponsor and support quilting activities, such as speakers, quilt shows, quilt making and collecting, to contribute to the growth of knowledge of quilting techniques, textiles and patterns, to share the history of quilts and their makers through educational meetings, travel and fellowship.

The International Quilt Festival Long Beach  was held last weekend at the Long Beach Convention and Entertainment Center. The show featured more than fifteen awe-inspiring exhibits. Here is just a small sampling of the quilts that were exhibited and few friendly faces to go along with it.

One of those friendly faces was Bob Purcell of Superior Threads. Bob asked us to remind you that he still has a special offer for TQS members on their 2-ply Masterpiece Thread.
