Have you quilted your TQS BOM - Ruffled Roses? Here's a finished quilt to inspire you created by Lynn Droege and quilted by Lisa Sipes. Lynn named the quilted McTangerine Roses after Lisa's Facebook name, McLisa Tangerine Starfish Sipes. (To learn more about Lisa, click here.)

Lisa says about the quilting, "I went into it with the "no plan plan" and just made it up as I went, bit by bit. But I will say I think my favorite part is the setting triangles around the center medallion! The triple stitch in combination with the gradated coloring of the fabric really looks groovy! :)"

Don't forget C&T Publishing is looking for Amish quilts and the last day to submit your quilt is September 30, 2012!

Join in C&T's 30th anniversary celebration and your quilt just might be published in one of their latest books.

Next year will be the 30th anniversary of C&T Publishing's first published book, An Amish Adventureby Roberta Horton. It all started with an impulsive promise back in 1983. When quilting teacher Roberta Horton told quilt-shop owner Carolie Hensley that she wanted to write a book on Amish quilts, but hadn't found a publisher yet, Carolie quickly said that she and her husband Tom would publish Roberta's book. "We knew nothing at all about publishing," Carolie says now. "I had never even thought about getting into the book business-the words just came out of my mouth!" That spontaneous promise was the start of a 30-year adventure.

Fast forward to today. An Amish Adventure is still in print, now in its second edition, but so much else has changed. Carolie and Tom Hensley have turned the business over to their sons Todd and Tony, who are assisted by a staff of more than 50 employees. C&T Publishing's catalog includes more than 400 books and products for fabric artists of all types.

C&T is honoring their 30th anniversary with a celebration of 30 Amish Quilts and they are looking for submissions of Amish and Amish-inspired quilts to be included in the 30th anniversary book. If you or someone you know is interested in submitting a quilt for this exciting publication, please click here or visit www.ctpubentry.com for all the details.

To help you along here are a few of the basics we pirated from the International Talk Like a Pirate Website:

Ahoy! - "Hello!"

Avast! - Stop and give attention, as in "get a load of that"

Aye! - "Yes!"

Aye aye! - "I'll get right on that captain, as soon as I can."

Arrr! - This can mean all kinds of things, "yes," "I'm enjoying my grog," "The Feed Dogs are going to win it all,"  just about anything.

Here you can watch, The Pirate Guys, Ol' Chumbucket and Cap'n Slappy teach ye lubbers the basics of talkin' like a pirate.

5092_renee1.jpgPaper piecing works wonders when when your goal is to achieve perfect points; however, the process can be frustrating when you sew a fabric of the wrong color in the wrong position (especially when there are lots of different colored elements).

Avoid "reverse stitching" by coding your master pattern with colored pencils or the written word. Color coding allows you to relax, enjoy, and stitch with confidence.
