The Quilt Alliance sixth contest and auction, "Home Is Where the Quilt Is," attracted 119 miniature masterpieces from quiltmakers in the U.S. and across the world.  The quilts are now heading home after being on tour and are making their way to Ebay with the first week of auctions beginning Monday, November 12, 2012.

All proceeds from this annual auction support the Alliance's core project, Q.S.O.S., and make their participation in partner projects like The Quilt Index andQuilt Treasures possible.

To view the 29 quilts offered in Week One of the "Home" auction visit their Flickr page. Flickr galleries for weeks 2-4 will be available later this week.

Here are the dates for each auction week.
Auction Week 1: Monday, Nov. 12 - Monday, Nov. 19 2012
Auction Week 2: Monday, Nov. 19 - Monday, Nov. 26 2012
Auction Week 3: Monday, Nov. 26 - Monday, Dec. 3 2012
Auction Week 4: Monday, Dec. 3 - Monday, Dec. 10 2012

The bidding for each quilt will start at $50 and each 7-day auction week starts and ends at 9:00 pm Eastern. Search "Quilt Alliance" on ebay.com during the auction period for that quilt. Please note: Before and after the auction period the quilts are not viewable (eBay only posts items included in live auctions--no archives or scheduled auctions are viewable).

Next year's theme is TWENTY.

Celebrate the Quilt Alliance's 20th anniversary by making and donating a quilt that celebrates TWENTY: the numeral, the concept, the quantity, the word--it's up to you and your imagination. All entries should be 20" x 20". Entries must be postmarked by May 1, 2013.

Each month, club members take on a new project using fabric strips, and in this episode,Daniela shares some of her favorite techniques and tips for turning strips into versatile tubes, squares, and blocks. (You'll have a chance to "strip" as well: Daniela's Strip it Tube Block Quilt will be available as a free project on the TQS website.)

We wrap up with a visit to Washougal, WA, where Barbara Shapel treats us to a show of her award-winning two-sided quilts, in which the quilt back offers viewers a different perspective of the design on the front.
