Nancy Prince, Award-winning quilter, author, national thread painting & sketching teacher, as well as, TQS guest and classroom instructor, would like you to join her in her inaugural, first ever quilting retreat in sunny Orlando, FL April 30-May 5, 2013.

If you don't know what thread painting is - well, instead of using a paint brush and paint, you will use the sewing machine needle as the paintbrush and the thread as the paint color.  Her anyone-can-do-it approach will assure you success right from the start.

(Quilt: School Days - This is the workshop project.)

To get more information and to sign up for the retreat go to Nancy's website, www.nancyprince.com and click on the Retreat tab for upcoming Retreat dates. Nancy can be contacted by email at Retreat@nancyprince.com.

Nancy was a guest in Episode 1004 - "Painting" with Thread with Nancy Prince, available to Star members.

Just Another Hang Up has a great project for you to make and keep or give away as a present this holiday season. "Trunk for the Junk" is a tote that helps keep your car tidy and junk free! The tote is lined with clear vinyl fabric which makes it easy to clean.  The outside of the fabric is 100% cotton duck, pretreated with soil and stain repellant.

This tote is so easy to make, no tucks or froo-froos, that you could make two, one for the toys and one for the trash!

There's something exciting happening in the TQS Classroom! Special Effects with Color, a new class with designer and author Christine Barnes, is available now for ALL TQS Members.

In Lesson 1, Christine illustrates how value - the lightness or darkness of color - can be used to create the illusion of depth and to establish the design of a block or quilt.

Great News!  Christine will be giving away one of her books, The Quilter's Color Club (from C&T Publishing), and one of her color wheels to two lucky TQS members.

To be eligible to win a book and a color wheel, just go to Christine's classroom, click the 1850_classrooms.jpg button, and post photos of your work as you follow along in class.

You can visit Christine's website by clicking here.
