As promised, here is Part 2 of photos from the MQX Quilt Festival - New England as shared by TQX member, Cheryl Begalu (cjbeg).

The event embraces all machine quilters, regardless of the size or model of machine they use to complete the quilting process, and we'd like to give a great big hug to Cheryl for sharing with us!

There are two ribbons on some quilts because one goes to the piecer/appliquer and one goes to the quilter.

And here, straight from her blog (where you can read more about it) is the Best of Show Winner from Margaret Solomon Gunn - Big Bertha (because it's 99" x 99").

Here's a wonderful iPad stand from Sewn Up by TeresaDownUnder.  It's both cute and functional and can be put together in an afternoon.  Then you can put on your iPad and watch episodes of The Quilt Show while you sew!

5611_woolmuseum.jpgIt may surprise you to know that wool was historically the most important and widespread of Wales's industries. Along with providing the surrounding countryside--and the world--with shirts, blankets, woolen stockings, and socks, the region also produced some magnificent quilts. The Textile Trail covers a group of attractions--all within an hour's drive of each other--that follow the history of these vibrant West Wales industries. Why not spend a weekend visiting the three locations responsible for recording the main events of the Welsh textile industry?

Margo has a great method for paper piecing the stars in the center of the sashing. She also shows you how to piece the stars into the background fabric so that you will not have to applique them.

Libby Lehman, our beloved TQS contributor and friend, is in the hospital in Houston suffering from an anuerysm.

Fortunately she was lucid and had motor skills before being taken into surgery.

Please send your prayers and good thoughts her way.  We will keep you posted.
