In Late Autumn, traditional log cabin blocks are set askew and enhanced with broderie perse and embroidery stitches.  You'll want to take a closer look at this traditional, yet non-traditional hand-quilted work by Hiromi Yokota.  Make sure to look at the detail as well.

Alex was featured artist at the San Diego Quilt Show this last weekend. She saw an amazing work of honor. Steven Leader decided to patch together WWII patches (badges) in a special quilt. Take a look.

TQS has discovered that Libby is missing all her postcards from her travels. So TQS member, SueBuck, decided it would be a great idea to send Libby picture postcards from our own travels and adventures. We also think that is a great idea.
The thought would be to just send picture postcards that will give Libby something to look at and talk about on her good days.
Please address your postcards to:

Cate Blanchette recently wore this dress, created by Christian Dior designers, to the Deauville Film Festival. One critic said it looked a whole lot like an old quilt cut up and tied around her neck.  How do you feel about that?

Sharon Schamber's daughter, Cristy, has a website, www.sewmuchlikemom.com, where she shares what her mom, Sharon, has taught her about sewing, quilting, and life.

Here is a great step-by-step lesson on Piec-lique Circles. Piece-lique is a method that Sharon developed that will help you get over the fear of sewing curved pieces as it can be applied to almost any curved seam design.

As Cristy says, you'll have an "Ah-ha!" moment once you give it a try.

Remember when you told you about the Mug Rug Exchange on the TQS Forum? If you don't remember, see below.

A Mug Rug is a mini-quilt that can act as a coaster or small placemat. It should be big enough to hold your beverage and maybe a small cookie (or a big cookie...)

Well, people have been posting photos like crazy, over 140 so far.  Here is just a sample of the mug rugs that have been exchanged among TQS members.

If you are interested in exchanging a Mug Rug, post on the Mug Rug Exchange - Do it yourself style! Forum Link and let it be known.  You'll also find more information there about how to proceed.  When someone responds, privately exchange your snail mail address, and then when it is completed, ship off your completed Mug Rug - The best part is the surprise when your Mug Rug arrives in the mail.

It's a great way to complete a small project and make a friend at the same time.

TQS would like to see what our members are making. When you receive your Mug Rug, please post a picture in the Mug Rugs Show & Tell area provided just for that purpose. We know it will be spectacular.
