The holidays are in the air as quilt artist, author, and fabric and quilt designer Amanda Murphy connects with Alex and Ricky in historic downtown Charleston, SC. Amanda demonstrates how to make a fast-and-fun tree skirt, complete with inverted-miters, points, and continuous binding. She also shares a quick-and-colorful Christmas quilt, with trees in three sizes, snowflake appliqués, and pompom trim. We finish with a tour of the day's location, The Old Exchange and Provost (built in 1767) which has played host to patriots, presidents . . . and pirates!

Episode 1312 Just in Time! Perfect Projects for the Holidays debuts on 12/9.

Fashion Lines by Gloria Hansen was exhibited as part of the Digital Imagery exhibition sponsored by C&T Publishing at IQF Houston 2013.

Artist's Statement: This piece is based on torn images from fashion magazines that I collaged together and then photographed.  The photographs were digitally combined, manipulated, and then printed onto silk fabric. I used some acrylic paint and fabric pastel to add shading and then machine quilted the piece.

Gloria is the author of Digital Essentials and Gloria Hansen: An Evolution in Stitches, Paint & Pixels.  Click here to visit Gloria's website.

Lyric Kinard taught in a beautiful setting at the Magnolia Plantation and Gardens in South Carolina. Justin and Capt'n John had a few minutes to run around the plantation taking pictures and in the room where Lyric taught.

2063__volumes_arjj_ooyala_backups1.jpgAmy Milne, the Executive Director of the Quilt Alliance, knows how important it is to label your quilt.

Want to make sure you document your quilt for future generations, but need a little help?  The Quilt Alliance has a labeling kit to help you do just that.

The kit includes labels, a fabric marker, an instruction and idea card that stresses the importance of labelling your quilt, and more. The cost of the kit is $12.

Looks like someone is on Santa's nice list this year. Libby is up and about using her walker.

In physical therapy Libby's progress in standing and walking is being slowed down by pain in her feet and ankles. Dr. Allum has recommended having Libby see a specialist to determine if botox injections in her ankles (certainly not for cosmetic reasons) might help improve flexibility. Lester has gotten an appointment for Libby a week from Thursday to see if this recommendation is appropriate. In the meantime, Libby is working hard at standing with the help of parallel bars and her therapist Pia and assistant Bola. They are excellent instructors, supporters, and cheerleaders, and Libby is giving it her all!

Looking for a quick gift? How about this Fun Poinsettia table runner featured by Jenny and Helen at Sew Kind of Wonderful.

The FREE tutorial provides instructions on how to make a single block.  It's up to you to put three blocks together to make the runner.

The block requires the Quick Curve Ruler (but you can never have too many rulers, right?)
