Are you looking for a heartwarming quilt-related gift for a child or grandchild in your family? Brandy Lynn Maslowski, the host of Canadian Quilt Talk, is constantly telling her listeners to share quilting with a younger generation on her talk show, her blog and everywhere she plays on social media. But she's not just talking about it.

She's now making a move to get her children's picture book, Kristy's Quilt, published and in the hands and hearts of quilters and children everywhere.

Kristy's Quilt is a heartwarming quilt adventure based on a true story. This children's book features 10 year old Kristy, a spunky little quilter who blossoms at the In Stitches Quilting Retreat. A book for ages 2-92.

Join Brandy Lynn, the Host of Canadian Quilt Talk on Feb. 14th for the launch of the Kristy's Quilt Kickstarter campaign!

What's Kickstarter? Supporters of the project (like you) fund the book in exchange for early bird copies and other fantastic rewards. Basically, if you back the project for $20 or more you'll be one of the first people on earth to get a copy of the book in your hands this spring. You can choose any level of funding from $5 and up for all kinds of great rewards including bookmarks, softcover or hardcover copies, a doll quilt made by Brandy herself, and more. And most importantly, once the book is in your hands, you'll be able to share your love of quilting with a child.

YOU CAN SUPPORT THIS HEARTWARMING PROJECT starting on Valentine's Day and anytime from February 14th to March 14th by clicking here. Thank you for sharing the heritage of quilting with a child.

This week's Little Scraps of Magic technique can be used for both large and small projects.  Gyleen shares her fast and simple technique for adding a binding to a project.  We made our quilt sandwich with scraps of fabric from our stash a 7" square (to accomdate the binding) to easily fit into the clear sheet protector. Get the downloadable instructions on the Projects page.

Can't get a better recommendation than one from Karen McTavish:

"Pretty Awesome stuff if you ask me! No more bleeding fabrics! Even safe on silk!"

What does it do? It erases those blue water soluble marker lines.  The blue lines that are suppose to come out with water, but don't.

For European lovers of needlework, the upcoming Pour l'Amour du Fil show in Nantes, France, promises to be a real treat. From April 23 - 26, the Parc de Expositione de la Beaujoire will abound with classes, exhibits, vendors, and more, all geared to inspire quilters, sewers, embroiderers, knitters, and other aficionados of the needle arts. The theme this year is Vintage..., with a special nod to the 1950s. We even found a class that covers how to make a 3-D flower brooch using old needlepoint scraps!

Not able to make the event? You can count on TQS to give you a taste of the action. Carolyn Konig, an Australian teacher and quilt-shop owner, is known for recreating 18th-century quilts and LOVES to do it all by HAND! You won't want to miss her show (Episode 1414) which will be airing  on TQS in May. Here's a sneak peek at her work.

We noticed this quilt in the quilt gallery. Aretha has stitched the entire piece in thread on a black background. All of her work is done on her trusty Singer Sewing Machine. Her first love is drawing, but 8 years ago she met quilting professional, Carol Williams and went to a quilt showing by Carol--that did it. She was hooked.

We only have a few quilts to go to reach 20,000 in our Quilt Gallery. Remember that every Member can put up 12 quilts. They can be ones they have made or own or have inherited. If you haven't done it yet, just go to "My Account>My Profile" and upload the pictures. We love seeing them.

Big Bertha, by Margaret Solomon Gunn, won the Masterpiece Award at Road to California 2014. Margaret writes about her quilt, "The traditional Dresden plate design is recreated in an original setting using bold modern green prints.  Applique prairie points are updated with over 100 pink dots.  Quilting designs are original and hand-guided."
