It's not often that we're stopped in our tracks by a new bag pattern, but this little dandy caught our eye at Quilt Festival last fall.

The grab-and-go Beatle Bag is great for the needleworker on the run. Its compact size makes it perfect for toting class supplies. It even fits easily in a carry-on bag! Once open, the Beatle Bag reveals its true magic: a number of clear sleeves to house all your bits and bobbles in an neat and organized fashion.

The pattern has a fairly short supply list, is well written and easy to follow. We think you might want to make several, not just for sewing supplies, but also for carrying your cosmetics, jewelry, and beading necessities.

Have you found a great sewing tool that has become a favorite?  Let us know by leaving a comment.

Discover how just 15 minutes of creative activity a day, coupled with scraps of fabric, orphan blocks, and other odd bits, can result in an impressive and satisfying collection of finished quilts.

(quilt: Double Wedding Ring Quilt, about 1940. Pieced cotton plain weave top, cotton plain weave back and binding; quilted. Pilgrim/Roy Collection.)

Quilts and Color the Pilgrim/Roy Collection is coming to the the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston.

“Quilts and Color” celebrates the vibrant color palette and inventive design seen in the acclaimed Pilgrim/Roy Quilt Collection. The exhibition features 60 distinctive quilts from the renowned collection and is the first to explore how, over five decades, trained artists Paul Pilgrim and Gerald Roy searched out and collected quilts with bold, eye-popping designs that echoed the work of mid-20th century Abstract Expressionist and Op Artists.

The exhibition opens April 6 and runs through June 27, 2014 at the Annn and Graham Gund Gallery (LG31).

Mistaken Identity by Gail Stepanek & Jan Hutchinson won 1st place - Bed Quilts - Traditional, at the inaugural AQS QuiltWeek in Phoenix, AZ 2014.  The interesting choice of a gray background juxtaposed with the pops of color highlights the beautiful quilting.
