New York folk artist Michael Cummings has a show not to be missed at Art Quilt Gallery in New York City. The exhibit opens May 6 and runs through June 14.

A few years ago, TQS stopped by for a visit with this charming artist at his 100-year-old Harlem brownstone. See how he creates his work by sorting fabrics on the floor and sewing on a 30-year-old sewing machine.

6525_quiltshowspringsaleimage.jpgWe stumbled on this while surfing rather than working. Here is a fun Spring Sale by Landauer Books. It includes great quilt books and some fabric and...well here is their pitch

You are in for a treat. Be sure to Zoom In close. The quilting designs, motifs, and quality are fantastic.

The magazine is better on your desktop or laptop computer. The iPad works great. Tap on a picture twice to enlarge it and then swipe your fingers as usual to increase it even larger. On the Kindle, tap a picture twice to enlarge it. I do not know how to zoom in further with a Kindle (please leave a comment if you do). I currently don't own an Android tablet. Let us know in the comments how it works on those.

The Slideshow "Smilebox" is included below for those who have trouble with the magazine approach.

Click Here or on the picture to start the magazine with Zoom abilities.

The San Jose Museum of Quilts & Textiles is having a fundraising campaign.  Here's what they have to say,

May 6th is our spring appeal! A year ago we needed help to keep the doors open now we need your help to keep moving forward! Mark your calendars for May 6. Go to our RAZOO page (see below) and share a little love! If you miss the 6th we will be accepting gifts on our website from the May 7th-June 15th but those won't count for the matches on SVGIVES.

"What I make with my hands, I give of my heART!"

At the SAN JOSE MUSEUM OF QUILTS & TEXTILES we celebrate "works of heART" of textile and quilt artists. Every day you get a chance to see quilts and fiber art made by masters, then use your hands to create in our Community Gallery, at a Meet & Make, or one of our many fiber art classes.

We share our love of the craft with survivors of domestic violence teaching them how to heal and express the creativity deep in their heARTS.

We create a warm and welcoming space where everyone can explore, have fun and witness the stories and artistry of traditional and new fiber art. With your help, we can continue to share and preserve the amazing work of established and emerging artists.

Please support us on this wonderful day of giving! Our goal for this campaign is $75,000. A little goes a long way when you give from your heART!

Together we can ensure that the Museum has the necessary financial resources to present powerful compelling exhibitions and fun, creative participatory experiences for all!

CLICK HERE TO DONATE (RAZOO PAGE).
