Sherry Rogers-Harrison is at it again with this 1st Place finish in Large Wall Quilts-Longarm Quilted at Paducah 2014.

(The experiment of the new way didn't work. First, the large original size couldn't be seen, then when this was fixed, Flickr started asking for sign ins. I couldn't figure out how to fix it. As Thomas Edison would have said...It's not a failure, we have successfully found another way that doesn't work....-Capt'n John)

The Quilt is now in our Zoom Quilt section so you can get to see the detail.

46.25" x 48.5"
Paper-backed cotton sheeting with Fabrisign II coating, Epson Ultrachrome Inks, warm and natural batting; polyester, cotton, rayon and monofilament thread.

Beginning July 26 and running through November 9, 2014 is the International TECHstyle Art Biennial 3 (ITAB) exhibition at the San Jose Museum of Quilts & Textiles.

The exhibition is returning for its third incarnation. It is a juried exhibition of work by artists merging fiber media with new information and communication technologies in their artistic processes, as a medium of artistic expression, and/or in the content of their work. This year jurors Louise Lemieux Bérubé, Patricia Malarcher, and Michael James brought their expert consideration and aesthetic to select work from a new pool of national and international entries.

As a part of their technical and artistic processes artists use techniques of digital jacquard weaving, digital printing, digital photography, manipulation of imagery using various computer programs, laser engraving, or computerized embroidery. As in previous years, some of the work is low tech while creating interesting themes and ideas about the technological world that we live in. ITAB showcases the tools of technology that allow artists to further their artistic visions as they explore the possibilities and inventions of textile art in the 21st century.

Thirty nine works are included by 36 artists from the United States, Canada, France, Hungary, Lithuania, New Zealand, and South Korea.

TQS members PaulaDoyle and Ferret are part of a community-based project that aims to make eight quilts (four medieval-inspired and four contemporary) to celebrate the 800th anniversary of the sealing of the Magna Carta at Runnymede on June 15, 1215.  This enormous project will take the good part of a year, with the goal being completion in time for the major celebrations throughout the UK, the US, and Commonwealth Nations.

TQS taping is in November...but not in Boulder.
Can you guess the new location?

Fall taping is just around the corner, and we'll be announcing the details for obtaining tickets soon.

Meantime we wanted to let you know that the studio location is changing.  We're moving to a new much larger, state-of-the-art venue called WEST WORKS Studios in Littleton.  With ample parking, seating on risers, and nearby shops and restaurants (Park Meadows Mall), we know you will love our new digs too!

With travel being so uncertain, it's best to arrive a day early. At the recent Ricky Tims Super Seminar in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Alex and Pam got a chance to roam for just 1 day. They got a lot done in nearby Amana Colonies.

Including: A visit to Fern Hill Gifts & Quilts. There were antiques, fun displays, fabric everywhere, secret rooms, religious icons, and more. Take a look and see why Alex and Pam have to keep on working....               Music is "The Water Is Wide".
