A new exhibit recently opened at the San Jose Museum of Quilts & Textiles.

Creating with Pixels showcases the work of the Pixel Pals, a group of six women started by Gudny Campbell and Sandy Hart in 2007. Each artist designs her quilt in Adobe Photoshop Elements applying various Elements tools to their digital photos, then prints their design on fabric and quilts it. The group’s love of photography, quilting, and computers is evident in digital art they have created for this exhibition.

The exhibit will run from September 22, 2014 - November 9, 2014.

"One particularly fast-growing category is creative and crafty toys, like the Sew Cool sewing machine from Spin Master and the Maya Group's Make Your Case cellphone cover kit,..."

I am currently in the middle of a kitchen renovation/addition project. It will be so nice when it is all done, but for right now I have no kitchen (no running water, no stove) in my house. So I am all about the simple easy no-cook (but still delicious) recipe. Even if you are not renovating your home, there are probably plenty of days that you are in the midst of The Next Great Quilt Project, and you need a quick fix for dinner or lunch.

I was delighted when I found these three recipes on my own blog--I had forgotten all about them! I had pre-cooked chicken breasts and frozen them in individual servings before the stove moved out. So I have all the ingredients ready to assemble these salads.

Here is my recipe for a single serve Chicken Apple Salad:

6850_img_3880.jpg

Ingredients:

Baby lettuce, or spring mix, or 50/50 spinach/baby lettuce,  3 big handfuls

1 ounce roast chicken, chopped

1 ounce goat cheese, crumbled (I used goat cheese that was coated with cranberries)

1/2 apple chopped

1 carrot grated

Dressing:  1 tsp each balsamic vinegar, mustard, olive oil, maple syrup.

Directions:  Mix the dressing in the bottom of the bowl and add the greens.  Toss to coat.  Dump the other stuff on top and eat it!

Libby was overwhelmed, but all smiles for the camera as she enjoyed looking at more of the quilts that were "Inspired by Libby." Inspired by Libby is an exhibition and auction to be held at the Houston International Quilt Festival in November, 2014.  This collection of 30" x 30" quilts will be auctioned off to aid Libby's family with medical bills.

This video has been edited; to see the full-length video, click here.

Watch for announcements on www.thequiltshow.com or search for Inspired By Libby.  The auction will be underway online this fall during the International Quilt Show in Houston. The exhibit will be displayed at the quilt show and then go on tour to IQS in Paducah in Spring of 2015.
