Want a fun summer quilt project?  TQS has just the answer!  Come join us as we make Blooms For Julie, our dazzling Summertime Quilt Project. You need to be a Star Member to get the this FREE pattern. This updated and freshly modern quilt - which measures 66" x 80" - was designed by Jan Magee, and is based on a scrappy version she made for her mother (I'll give you one guess at her name...).  We just fell in love with the new design and know that you will too.

The first of four pattern installments will come in early July.  Subsequent pattern installments will air on the first of each month.  The TQS Shop has a limited number of kits available for a super deal of a price ($159.95). The kit includes a roll of Quilters Select Appli-Web Plus (a $21.99 value), an ultra-lightweight webbing backed with heat resistant paper (you are going to love it!). Order your kit today!

Kits will be shipped starting July 6.

Bonus!  Whether or not you purchase the kit, be sure to download our Introduction Packet, to get all the yardage and other supplies you will need to be ready right away.

Talk about an odyssey!  Renae Haddadin recounts an amazing quilting journey, which took her from hand appliqué and hand quilting in this country, through Jordan and back again, and then on a new adventure in longarm quilting.  She bought her first machine without knowing how to use it, but now drives it like a pro.

She demonstrates her unique “road map” for designing quilting patterns, making what looks complex become much more manageable.  In addition to showing her quilts and her quilting, you'll see the gorgeous wedding dress she created based on Disney’s Beauty and the Beast.

We then journey to Arizona, where Barbara Polston shares her love of miniature quilts and vintage linens.  Let’s get going!

The Black Sea town of Sile sits at the northernmost tip of Istanbul.  There has been a village located here as far back as 700 BC.  Sile has long been known for it beaches, fishing, and a lighthouse that dates back to the Ottoman times.

We also found a cottage industry of textile production that will astound you.

We would like to thank Mr. Emre Toprakci from the Sile Community Center for providing the video portion of this presentation.

Many of the old weaving traditions are being preserved today.  See how the fiber is prepared and how the Sile Community Center is fostering this ancient weaving tradition.

Here's a fresh, fun take on a pillowcase that's a great way to use up those small scraps of fabric. From A Spoonful of Sugar and the mother/daughter team of Lisa and Sarah, these pillowcases are sized at 28 1/2" x 18 1/2," so you may need to adjust your pillowcase size, depending on your pillow.  The team includes a tutorial for making the pillowcase itself.

Materials:

  • 22 Hexagon papers that are 1 1/4 inch on each side
  • Assorted fabric scraps in florals, ginghams, polka dots (hexies)
  • Pink polka dot fabric – 19 x 17 inch (pillowcase cuff)
  • Pink gingham fabric – 19 x 2 1/2 inch (pillowcase cuff)
  • White homespun – 19 x 21 inch (pillowcase front)
  • Pink chevron fabric – 19 x 35 1/2 inch (pillowcase backing)

Renae says "This quilt includes many different techniques. One of those techniques is shadow embroidery. The colored fabric shows through the white fabric, hence the name Beauty from Within."

Star Members can watch Renae in Show 1613: A Quilter's Journey, which debuts on Monday, June 22, 2015.
