It will be a sad day for the quilting world if Monopoly gets rid of the Thimble token. That could be a reality, but you can stop it from happening. Game maker Hasbro just launched a new campaign letting people vote online for the next Monopoly tokens.

Hasbro's Senior VP of Marketing, Jonathan Berkowitz, has said that no token is safe. "Only time will tell if fans will decide to stay with the classics, keep a few favorites or pick an entirely new line up of tokens."

Voting runs through January 31, 2017. Hasbro plans to announce the winners on "World Monopoly Day," March 19.

Click here to vote. It's up to you to save the Thimble!

The Quilt Show is still in the process of transferring the website to a new server. This change has many benefits, but the transfer is a tricky ordeal. Our system has to tell the entire internet how to find our new location.

This takes some time and can have some delays in getting the message out. We are also fixing links, logins, and getting the architecture ready for fun changes to come.

We have a master plan to make the site easier to use in the next year and this is the first step. If you see problems or notice glitches, let us know. Our nerds are working diligently, and the Sushi bill is getting enormous. But like a new workout program, we are going to look back and it will all be worth it. Wish us luck.

Barbara Hollinger, curator of Sacred Threads, has a new project for Sacred Threads 2017. It's the "Postcard Project." Share your Hopes and Dreams!

Barbara writes,
"Let me tell you a little bit about it. We would love for you to create a mixed media postcard that illustrates your greatest Hopes and Dreams. Just think, Hopes and Dreams color our everyday perceptions, allow us to imagine how high we can fly, and visualize how bright our desires shine."

Make one, or make several, and mail them to Sacred Threads to share in a special display in the Washington, DC area next summer.

Postcards are to be 6"w x 4"h. Deadline May 31, 2017.

Just looking at it, you think, "hmmm, interesting...,"  The fact is that it is amazing.  This dress is made up from "shopping" bags that she probably only received the day before.  Yes, shopping bags made out of that sort've  flimsy, woven textile'ish stuff.  How fast could you put one together?  Probably would've made a cool quilt as well.

What is better in cold weather than a bowl of delicious chili? This is my favorite chili ever. When I checked the stats on it, I was pleasantly surprised to find that the calorie count was quite reasonable. Of course, that's the thing about chili--it's all the fixin's that can make it a more "luxurious" entree calorie-wise. Start with an extra lean cut of beef. Sometimes you can find "extra lean stew beef" already cut into bite-sized pieces for you. Enjoy a steaming bowl of chili, guilt free, then get back to your quilting! (P.S. This recipe is still delicious in our California spring weather!)

Here's a link to the recipe.

Sister, OR, in the Snow Winter 2017
If there ever was a quilt season, it definitely would be this winter.

We are buried in piles of the beautiful white stuff which has kept a good portion of the local population home bound...and quilters, sewing room bound! I think Mother Nature must have known that my "To Do" list was getting a little long and ordered up a few feet of snow to help me be productive. This has been a very fun time for me because I have spent a lot of time digging through piles and reacquainting myself with UFOs I had forgotten about. And, the exciting part is, I have been finishing some.

Sisters, OR, Tree in the Snow Winter 2017

I believe all this productivity means I get to indulge in a new project! I found the perfect project right in my back yard...well, not literally in my backyard, there is only snow there, but a few short blocks away at the Stitchin Post. The Stitchin Post in Sisters, Oregon, has released their first BOM! How could I refuse? Especially because it is a little bit of Gwen Marston, a little bit of Sue Spargo, and a whole lot of Tonye Belinda Phillips. The best part is you can order this BOM by calling the Stitchin' Post (there are limited spaces) or order by mail. This is a four month BOM called House Party Revival and if you are local or traveling through town, Tonye is offering support classes for each segment.

Truly Tonye Belinda Phillips has created a wonderful quilt with which I can indulge myself as the first new project of 2017! With kit #1 in my possession, I am ready to start right away!!! If you want to join me, check out the Stitchin' Post and we'll start our own support group, LOL.
