TQS continues its feature of quilts exhibited in 2020 at QuiltCon as part of The Quilts of Victoria Findlay Wolfe exhibit. The exhibit is described as:

"Purposeful play is a deliberate free-form practice with one goal in mind: to ultimately improve the outcome of the finished product while capturing a thought, emotion, or technique. Always fascinated by color, pattern, and quilters who came before us, Victoria Findlay Wolfe found her life's true joy in exploring her grandmother's quiltmaking as a starting point.

Her diverse and exciting body of work stirs quilters worldwide to dig deeper, take risks, and experiment with fabric. This retrospective exhibit features a selection of Findlay Wolfe's inspiring quilts and the stories behind them."

Please enjoy Victoria's tenth quilt from the exhibition.

Wanting to create a "portrait of a fun 1960s neighborhood", Catherine Jarett made Flamingos In My Yard from a Carolyn Friedlander pattern with her own appliqué additions in the mix. Winning Best Longarm Machine Workmanship Modern at PIQF 2019, this yard is also covered in machine piecing and machine appliqué. Maybe they should have just stuck with lawn flamingos.

Flamingos In My Yard by Catherine Jarett of Walnut Creek, California won Best Longarm Machine Workmanship Modern at the Pacific International Quilt Festival (PIQF) 2019.

Featuring circular designs created with ApplipopsMaybel is the name of both this quilt and Pokey's airstream trailer. Pokey named it after a goat that she saw on Instagram that was pregnant with four kids. To her, the pregnant goat resembled the shape of her airstream and now this quilt adorns the trailer wherever it travels to.

Now here's something you don't see everyday, blue elephants! More to the point, Indigo Elephants. Andrea Schwenk's quilt contains "dyed silks, cottons and lace with natural indigo" from her garden." Made with machine piecing and machine appliqué, this is no quilt to shake your trunk at.

Indigo Elephants by Andrea Schwenk of Kerken, Germany was featured in the Wall category at the Pacific International Quilt Festival (PIQF) 2019.
