MJ writes, "Copper Queen was inspired by the magnificent column still that reigns over Angel's Envy Distillery (Louisville, KY). Glowing with colors of ochre, salmon, magenta, and fuchsia, the three-story-tall still is an honest-to-god 'thing of beauty'."

Alex and Ricky greet Heidi Kaisand, a former editor of American Patchwork & Quilting Magazine. Heidi loves working with wool and shares a fun and contemporary wool circles on flannel-covered canvas project. Heidi also demonstrates simple embroidery stitches.

Then, meet Linzee Kull McCray. Writer and photographer for craft, art, and textile publications, Linzee shares the fascinating history of feed sacks and examples of some of the fabrics, advertisements, and wonderful items made using feed sack fabrics. She also shares a fun string piece quilt and talks about how to keep the chaos of prints from becoming overwhelming.

This BOS winner is no stranger to blue ribbons. In fact, Starburst won Best of Show at AQS QuiltWeek Virginia Beach 2018. Now it has won Large Quilts, Stationary, Machine Quilted at AQS QuiltWeek Daytona Beach 2019. The quilting and embroidery work are absolutely mind-boggling and we are still trying to figure out how she did the border trim. Take a closer look at Starburst by Susan Stewart. Jen at Shabby Fabrics shows you how to make this cute zipper pouch using 5" Charm squares or 10" Layer Cakes. The pouch measures approximately 2½" x 2½” x 6½”, and is a great place to store toiletries for travel, school supplies, sewing/quilting notions, and more.

Cherrywood Fabrics was created 32+ years ago with a commitment to high quality cotton fabrics. With multiple washings in the dyeing process, the fabric, although cotton, has the look of suede...and the colors are absolutely beautiful. In recent years they have sponsored the Cherrywood Challenge, where quilters can submit a 20" x 20" quilt reflecting the chosen subject matter. There are specific guidelines and it is truly amazing the detail and creativity that quilters from around the world create within. The themes have included Wicked, The Lion King, Van Gogh. The current traveling exhibit is Prince, and the 2019 challenge, which you can still enter, is Bob Ross!!!

The current traveling exhibit is Prince, in honor of the musical innovator, and it is amazing. I will be giving you a close up of the Home Tour when it reaches the Sisters Outdoor Quilt Show this summer, but I had to share with you the "Prince Losers Lane."

The Prince show was displayed at Quiltfest, Northwest Clark County Quilters Regional Show which you can view on Quilt Roadies. What I loved is how this guild supports its members. Three of the members entered the Cherrywood Challenge, but their quilts were not chosen for the traveling exhibits...undaunted, the guild rallied around their brave and creative participants and created the Prince Losers Lane which hung along side the traveling exhibit, LOL. Being part of a supportive guild is such a wonderful experience. I apologize that the photos have distracting ribbons and info on them...everyone deserves their 15 minutes of fame!!!

For fifteen years, the Spanish Patchwork Association (AEP) has been organizing the International Patchwork Festival in Sitges. This year, Ricky had his own exhibition at the show. Carlos Dambo sent Ricky a video highlighting Ricky's quilts and other items in the show, including exhibitions by the AEP,  EQA, Betty Busby, Anne Woringer, Ximo Navarro, Peter Hayward, Quilts from the British Isles (Christopher Wilson-Tate collection) and the trade fair.

So grab a coffee, this video is about 15 minutes long, sit down, and relax. If you are looking for Ricky's quilts, they are at about the 6 minute mark.

The Silicon Valley Modern Quilt Guild wanted to create a quilt that reflected the area in which they lived, so they came up with the idea of creating a quilt that looks like a smart phone and all of its apps. What a clever idea for working within the "small piecing" parameters of the QuiltCon Charity Quilt challenge. Enjoy Home by the Silicon Valley Modern Quilt Guild. Do you have any of these apps on your phone?
