Sandra Leichner's quilt, Naturalist's Notebook, won one of the top eight awards at the International Quilt Festival in Houston 2019. It's not hard to see why when you look at the appliquéd details of each individual flower and bird. The quilting is absolutely extraordinary as well and Capt'n John made sure to get a lot of close ups.

You can learn how Sandra does it in Show 1701: The Appliqué Doctor Is In.

Meet Jayme Crow, an eclectic quilter and fabric designer for Island Batiks, who dabbles in many different styles. In this show, she shares a fun technique for creating a strip design using batik fabric with zero waste. She also shares her diamond shaped Boondoggle ruler and the basics of cutting and assembly with the ruler to make an infinite variety of quilt designs.

Also in this show, Alex talks about straight line quilting and how to avoid the "stop and start" process. She also shows off her Bubble quilt where she machine appliquéd circles onto the quilt after it was quilted.

Watch Jayme in Show 2511, when it debuts Sunday, November 17, 2019.

Another passage in life is adjusting to losing a life partner. Sandi Snow won an Honorable Mention Ribbon at the Houston Quilt Show 2019 with her quilt, Protecting the Flame. Her use of color, gradation and texture is beautifully done.
