Burton, MI, USA, September 22,2008 - The Alzheimer's Art Quilt Initiative (AAQI) is offering approximately five grants of $10,000 each to qualifying research organizations. Grant funds will be dispersed in December 2008. For more information click here.

I can't believe a year has gone by - Quilting in the Garden at Alden Lane Nursery is this weekend! This is one of my favorite quilting things to do. Joen Wolfrom is the featured artist along with a special exhibit by Melinda Bula and of course quilts from our community. The show is BOTH Saturday and Sunday, 9:00 - 4:00 - admission free! There is still room in Cindy Needham's workshop and at the Friday and Saturday evening lecture. John and I will be selling T-shirts designed for this event - stop by and say "hi". Byron, IL, USA - Collage Mania, a Fiberart For A Cause online fundraiser for the American Cancer Society (ACS), will be held on May 5-7, 2009. Last year Collage Mania raised $13,000 for the ACS in two days. Virginia Spiegel, founder and organizer, says that the goal for 2009 is $20,000.

San Jose, CA, USA - The San Jose Quilt Museum will hold a retrospective of Radka Donnell's quilts titled Charged Sites: Radka Donnell's Art Quilts. Donnell's quilts are distinguished by a bold, painterly, abstract expressionist approach to the use of color, line and pattern. In Donnell's approach to her art she freely combines large scale printed fabrics cut in unusual shapes to create original, improvisational works. The exhibition runs September 2 through November 2, 2008. For more information click here.
