The Quilters Hall of Fame (TQHF) is pleased to announce the selection of Merikay Waldvogel of Knoxville, TN as the 39th honoree to be inducted into the Quilters Hall of Fame, July 2009.

One of the key players in the late 20th century quilt history revival, Waldvogel has served on the board of directors of both the American Quilt Study Group (AQSG) and the Alliance for American Quilts (AAQ). She has been a key player in building The Alliance's online Quilt Index and has also taken key roles in the Boxes Under the Bed and Quilt Treasures programs that are major contributions of the Alliance to the study of American cultural history.  Waldvogel is a fellow of the International Quilt Study Center at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, where she has worked with graduate students and has built an important database of quilt kits. Her research into quilt history has led her to author several books and magazine articles.  She also lectures frequently to quilt guilds, historical societies and museums as a nationally known quilt authority.

Merikay Waldvogel's induction celebration will take place July 16-19, 2009 at the Quilters Hall of Fame, located in Marion, IN.  For more information on how you can join the celebration, click here or send a postcard or letter to CELEBRATION 2009, PO Box 681, Marion, IN  46952.

Congratulations Merikay from all of us at The Quilt Show!

Here is a family portrait taken at Houston.  Can you identify the participants?   TQS is very lucky to have such a great family and Alex, Ricky, Justin, John, Lilo and Jeff are thrilled to meet with these and many others.  You are making Houston even more fun than usual.

Quilt Market was the place to let the general public see up close and personal the much talked about new Bernina 830.  Here it is seen on the exclusive Bernina sewing cabinet, made for Bernina by Horn of America.  For more photos from Houston, go here to "Show and Tell".  Check back later for more views from our cameras in Houston.

"Seasonal Sisters" by Helen Godden, Annette Hendricks, and Gail Thomas

The Quilt Show.com and You, it's members, tonight presented "The World of Beauty Award" at the International Quilt Festival in Houston, TX. It came as a complete (and wonderful) surprise as Ricky and Alex announced that our friends The Three Sisters had won the award. We were very lucky to have them work on their quilt at Ricky's studio in La Veta. To watch go to "Articles" and scroll down to June 29, 2008 or just click here.

Keep your eyes on the blog as we work the booth and visit the quilt galleries throughout the week. A number of familiar names and faces will be appearing.
