The Helping Hands Challenge goes forward. We have been amazed by the creativity, the sensitivity and the thoughtfulness of the entries. Go to "Challenges" on the purple bar. Then click to enlarge the pictures and read the explanations about the quilt. Wonderful.
Click the play button to go to the blog and start the slideshow. The artistry and the techniques are worth this second view.
Are you going to be near Santa Ana, CA this weekend? On Sunday, February 22, take a friend and see a hilarious quilt lecture by quilt historian, Julie Silber, called Keepin' 'Em In Stitches: America's Funniest Quilts at the Bowers Museum. Women have always included aspects of their lives into the quilts they produce. Familiar are the themes of love, loss, and celebration, but humor? Who knew? Julie will have you chuckling till your sides hurt as she shares quilts from the 19th and 20th century that feature humor in some of the most unexpected places. To learn more about this lecture click here.
Here is a review of some of the Road To California Prize Winning Quilts. Thanks again to Carolyn Reese and her wonderful staff.
Throughout this weekend we will blog some final quilts not yet shown.
The music is from the Album "Sounds of Wood & Steel" and the song is "Nothing's To Good (For a Friend)" played by Doyle Dykes.
Pam's latest offering gives us a view of African landscapes, local colors, and of course quilts. We recommend that you keep the cursor over the play/pause button, as you will want to view some of the scenes a little longer. Or maybe wait until the second time through.
