2013_p1030598.jpgHere is a picture Alex took in the Costa Rican Rainforest.  It's not a postcard, it's what we actually saw.

The summer is still young and we are looking for great places to visit.  Tell us about something near your home or a special place you can't forget.

Check out Show & Tell on the purple bar and see the suggestions so far.

Because quilters have a passion for gardening and because Alden Lane loves quilters, we decided that this Nursery MUST be a destination stop if you are in the East Bay of CA. As you stroll through their beautiful gardens make sure you stop into the gift shops - because my quilts will be integrated into their product displays! As seasons change and displays change so will my quilts! Here is an example of what I am talking about - This particular quilt is from my newest book Hand and Machine Applique - due out next month.

I LOVE Alden Lane Nursery in Livermore, CA. They are a top flight nursery (definitely a destination stop), who understands our passion for quilting. Every year they host a FREE two day outdoor quilt show (4th weekend of Sept.). This year they celebrate the work of Laura Wasilowski (watch her free show here). Not only do they host a bang up quilting event, but prior to the two day quilt show, they offer fantastic classes by several expert teachers. The classes are filling fast - so sign up today! PS: Keep Posted - More exciting Alden Lane news later today - Wanna Guess?

Alex & Ricky welcome Anelie Belden to TQS starting today.

Anelie Belden shows how easy it is to make one of your favorite patterns, Dresden Plate, thoroughly modern using freezer paper (Ricky loves freezer paper!) and a breezy flip-and-sew approach.

Wait...there's more: Anelie has a “no-measure” border technique that you are sure to love.

To start the action, Alex demonstrates her easy Heart block that is half pieced and half appliquéd.

Appliqué, flip-and-sew, no-measure binding, freezer paper, and a modern twist to a familiar pattern: this show will give you techniques you'll want to start using immediately.
