This is the summer of new books for me! Hot off the press is the THIRD edition of Start Quilting....This edition has 8 quick and easy projects (many with instructions for 4 sizes) and is perfect for the first time quilter. A big shout out to Pam Vieira-McGinnis of Pam Kitty Morning Blog, my celebrity stunt sewer - this book would not been possible without her skill and talent! Also, the third book of Liz and my Super Simple Series is ready to ship. These books run $9.95 and are also perfect for fast and easy projects especially for using the delicious large scale prints we enjoy. To order these (and my other publications) go here. I am thrilled to autograph them - also stay tuned - soon my Machine and Hand Applique book will be available. Happy dancing in Livermore, Ca today!

WOW!  You loved this pattern!  And JWD Publishing was excited to bring Mickey Depre's adorable family of ninepatchers to TQS.

Here are the lucky 6 people that won the pattern "The Ninepatchers- A Family Reunion"

Nancy Elaschuk of New Brunswick, Canada; Denise Woloszyn of Illinois; Nancy Fohl of Massachusetts; Frances Fournier of British Columbia, Canada; Jette Jorgensen of Denmark; and Glynne Blaik of Scotland.

There is still time to get your own pattern.  Check out more of Mickey's fun patterns by clicking here.  To find a quilt shop near you that carries JWD Publishing's patterns, go here.  (Ask your local quilt shop to see if they carry JWD patterns.  If a store does not have the specific pattern you wish, they may order ir directly from JWD.)

I just spoke to Cyndee, my FAVORITE pirate at Alden Lane (watch her in action) and it seems that classes are filling for Quilting in the Garden 2009 - rumor has it that there are still some openings, but do not delay. As you can see, Alden Lane is the place to be - whether it is Quilt Show weekend (4th weekend in September) or international talk like a pirate day! To find out more information go here.

We are going through the pictures of quilts at the shows for slideshows, but wanted to give you a taste of what's to come.  There were art quilts, traditional quilts and quilts just for fun.

"Colorado Tundra" by AMiller

Don't miss this opportunity to enter the Gridded Quilt Challenge to win a fine-art giclee print of Ricky's Summer Storm in Clay County, Texas.

The contest, which runs 'til July 31, 2009, is open to all TQS members. Colorado Tundra by AMiller is one of our entries. To learn more about this challenge, or to view the range of creative entries we've received so far, click here.

If you're in the dark and/or not sure where or how to begin, check out Ricky's demonstration in Episode 406 (David Taylor). In this show, Ricky builds a Gridded Art Quilt using traditional units and blocks (half-square triangles, four-patches, Rail Fence blocks, etc.) to create an overall design based on his memories of growing up in Texas.

If you are near Knoxville, Tennessee or Long Beach, California you have the opportunity to see amazing quilts, a variety of vendors and have fun with friends.

Quilt Festival is in Long Beach and Quilt Expo is in Knoxville.  Both are great shows.  If you can't make it, rest assured that TQS is there and will bring you slideshows and pictures to give you a glimpse of what is going on.

Did you go to either show?  Tell us about something you saw there.
