Kool Kaleidoscope by Ricky Tims

I personally want to thank EVERYONE who submitted an entry for my upcoming Kool Kaleidoscope book. There were many submissions in our Show and Tell from TQS members and other entries came in via email. All in all we had 126 submissions which were narrowed down to the 51 quilts I HAD to have in the book! Then, of course, the publisher says to cut it down to 25 (I'm down to 26) -so that was a really tough thing to do. I think everyone who made a Kool Kaleidoscope is a winner and my heart goes out to those whose quilts were not selected as a finalist. All of the entries were an inspiration to me personally!

The finalist's quilts will be sent to me for eyes-on examination and photography before the absolute final list of quilts for the book are chosen. However, congratulations to these quilters whose quilts have been selected for final review.

We recently received an encouraging letter. We love to see members stretching their quilting wings.

"Dear Ricky,

I entered this piece of work into the Festival of Quilts in Birmingham.
I received a Highly Commended as it is free machined, straight zig zag satin stitched.
The whole thing, apart from construction, was made with the feed dogs down. Please thank Bob & Heather for their thread and needle advice. I used a lot of Superior threads in this.

I also used a lot of tips from you and Alex and the Guests.
Your show just gets better and better.

Love to all-- Pauline Barnes (grinly)"

2100_1show_505.jpgFabric is important in many of our members lives.  Recently TQS reached out to African women trying to change their lives with Carol Schillios through her Fabric of Life organization.  Carol works to make women self sufficient with skills and businesses that give them independence and the ablility to clothe and educate their children.

TQS had a challenge with Fabric of Life Fabrics and this show announces the winners.  See who won.  But the real answer is that we all won.  Hey, isn't that ....?  What is she doing?
