 2164_full_hi_res.jpg

Get your gift list off to a good start this weekend by making the Pocket Pillowcase you saw demonstrated in Episode 507 "Great Gifts".  Rebecca Kemp Brent shares her fast, fun project you can make for (and with) kids of all ages, complete with it's secret, hidden pocket...perfect for hiding a favorite teddy bear when going to a sleepover. Included in Rebecca's pattern are the instructions for making the patchwork cuff on the pillowcase.  And you can personalize your gift with embroidery or appliques.  To find this and other great quick projects, visit Projects here.

Congratulations for all your hard work so far!  You are almost finished with your masterpiece! Now the real excitement begins as you start putting all the elements together.

This month Sue Garman walks you through adding your "set-on- point" stars together and two floating borders. With these enhancements, your quilt top will grow tremendously in no time.  Star members can dowload the pattern for free here.  Be sure to watch the accompanying instructional video here.

For true inspiration, be sure to visit the Show and Tell page to view over 850 wonderful BOM block entries we've received so far. New entries are added each week.  We love seeing these quilts in progress...so keep 'em coming!

Looking for a fun side trip this next year? How about Napa or San Francisco -I LOVE MY STATE OF CA and want to share it with you! Join Alex and Jim West to discover the wonderful Napa / Sonoma valley in CA for a luxurious four day weekend. We will sip wine at private vineyards, take a jaunt on the wine train, get a cooking lesson (this was set up especially for Alex) and a little red work project to commemorate our adventure. OR - if San Francisco is your desired destination this might be the choice for you. In San Francisco (to be a true local NEVER call it Frisco or San Fran - argFoot in mouth) we will delight in the sights of my favorite City by the Bay. We will visit world renowned Britex and slip into the tiny shop of Lacis. Again, a special red work project will be created for this journey. In both cases, these trips are designed for traveling with like minded people (quilters) in a top notch and safe setting. A perfect treat for you - and yes, John is coming along. For more information on Napa go here and for more information abut San Francisco go here. Space is limited, so do not delay.

One of the great things about Quilting in the Garden is that I get to see both friends and colleagues. Lisa came camera ready and prepared this blog for their site. You might want to take a moment to check it it. It just tells more of the story. Mark your calendars for next year (September 25th and 26th) as featured artist is another member of the TQS family - our own Sue Nickles!

In addition to hanging out at Quilting in the Garden  this weekend in livermore CA (it's FREE)- I am also gearing up for market and festival. Because my deadlines have been hitting hard and fast, Elizabeth Scott offered to make my "free pattern" quilt that always accompanies each line. (I love people who help in a pinch - let's hear it for celebrity stunt sewers - and she is a celebrity in her own right!). To chill I was browsing the web and stumbled on her blog - to see a sneakie peekie as to what she did click here.
