This month Sue Garman teaches you how to add flying geese border to the outer border. Flying geese are nice additions to any quilt - and what is even nicer about them is that they are easy to make and easy to adjust to fit any length needed.  To find the pattern and directions click here.

We received the following question:

"In Houston this year, I heard several people referring to "ghost thread". Can you tell me what they were referring to? Thank you."

When an artist paints on canvas, they are done when they finish painting. Not so for artists who paint on quilts. After the painting is done, there is a lot of work left to do. These quilts are painted with ink, dyes, and thread. Look for all our friends you have met along the way. How did they all end up in Ricky's category?

This is the last weekend (10/28 – 11/1) to visit the Great Jack O’Lantern Blaze in Van Cortlandt Manor Croton-on-Hudson, New York.  Come rain or shine see the Hudson Valley’s largest Halloween event featuring more than 4,000 individually hand-carved, illuminated jack o’lanterns. It includes everything from an 18th century riverside landscape to a huge spinning UFO.  The video is from the 2006 show.

Happy Halloween everyone. It seems my brain has been in overdrive the last few weeks - and especially since returning from Houston. This is the first Halloween I've been home in 14 years due to the normal dates for quilt festival and market in Houston.

I decided this morning I needed a break - so I carved a pumpkin. I was going to do a spooky face, but when I started carving this is what happened. Anyone who knows my town will recognize the two Spanish Peaks, the dike wall, and of course, La Veta. - Is that a spooky face in the mountains?

TQS Ruth created a Halloween Card for Alex, Ricky, John, Justin and Lilo.  It is such a hoot that we wanted to share it with you!  Click on the photo to see ARJJ turn into the most loveable ghouls you have ever seen...and danced with!  (Doesn't Ricky look dapper?!)

To create your own Monster Mash-Up, click  www.monstermashup.com to go to Oriental Trading's website.  You can create your own Mash-Up for up to 5 friends (if you choose less, then it will automatically just fill in other faces for your group).  You can then choose to dance to the country version, the rock-and-roll version or the classic version of "Monster Mash".

Who will be in your group?  If you create a Mash-Up, post your link in our Comments section above so we can share for a screaming good time!  Have fun!
